Karyn kept fading in and out of consciousness. Every time she “woke up” she was surrounded by a different group of people, but one thing remained constant.

“-Don’t even know what I ever saw in him,” Karyn found herself saying without meaning to as she gained control of her body next to Tiffany.

“I know, right? He’s such a man-whore. He was trying to hit on me right before he insulted Sarah”

Karyn’s focus drifted away from Tiffany’s words, although the girl kept talking. What had she ever seen in Jon? No, that wasn’t really her thought. That was Other Karyn’s thought that was trying to invade her consciousness. She knew that Jon was a good person, she just couldn’t–

“-So underhanded.” Now Karyn was talking to Biff, who backed up her apparent assessment.

“Jon just loves a good cheap shot. Never fights fair.”

There was a little voice nagging in the back of Karyn’s head. Hadn’t it been Biff who had taken a cheap shot against Jon in the cafeteria? But somehow that didn’t make sense. In Karyn’s mind, it was like being told that a field mouse had strangled an eagle in its claws. Even if you saw it on video, it still wouldn’t make–

“-No loyalty whatsoever.” Karyn blinked. Now she was talking to Amber all of a sudden.

“We saw that easily enough this morning,” Amber nodded in agreement.

And Karyn couldn’t help but mirror Amber’s nodding head. It was true, Jon wasn’t loyal. He took cheap shots. What had Karyn ever seen in–

“-He’s just a Self-centered–”

She blinked.

“-Such a weirdo who gets by on his–”

Another blink.

“-I hate him, with all of my–”

Karyn barely had any time to process one thought before she blipped away and a new one assaulted her the moment she blipped back in. If she’d had more time, maybe her own natural inclinations may have been able to fight back against them. But the thoughts kept coming so fast from her perspective, layering on top of one another like bulletproof glass.

At one point, Karyn finally did have a few full minutes of clarity to herself. And she was in the middle of yet another bitch-session about Jon, three faces she’d never even met until a day ago nodding in agreement.

She stopped herself. Someone else picked up the conversation, and Karyn nominally kept nodding along with everything that was being said. But in her head she was trying to get herself ahead of the rolling freight train of negativity towards Jon. No matter how right it felt, Karyn knew intellectually that this wasn’t what she truly believed.

After all, Jon had reached out to her and showed her his magical wishing stone.

And then stood by and did nothing while she made a stupid wish.

But he’d promised he’d help fix it.

Which he never did, of course.

But he had to like her, they’d been friends for so many years.

And he’d taken the first opportunity he had to sleep with her and then dump her for the next best thing.

Every positive thought that Karyn tried to muster towards Jon was immediately overridden by a negative one. No matter how she tried to twist her own logic, it always came back to the same place: Jon was smarmy and egotistical and petty and dumb and she couldn’t trust him at all.

The rolling freight train flattened Karyn completely. Overwhelmed her. She could do nothing against it, as it charged straight for her brain and flowed out through her mouth.

“You guys just down get it,” she shouted, interrupting whoever was speaking. “Jon is just such a fucking pussy, I swear to god!”

Those weren’t Other Karyn’s words. They were Karyn’s. Her own ideas, her own thoughts. And expressing them out loud like that felt right. It felt good. It felt–

“-Mmhmm.”

The next time Karyn woke up, she was kissing Biff Meadows.

The real Karyn would have never allowed herself to be in a situation where she was kissing Biff. The real Karyn would generally try to avoid even having a conversation with Biff. The real Karyn would never become aroused at the thought of Biff.

But when Karyn woke up, she was already thinking of Biff, and she was already quite considerably turned on. Turned on by Biff.

For a moment, Karyn broke off the kiss in confusion. Her rational mind, still reeling from losing its battle over Jon, tried to rebel once again.

But Karyn’s mind wasn’t only fighting its own alter ego. It was also fighting the physical sensations of pleasure that were, in that moment, coursing through Karyn’s body.

“I should be saving myself,” she thought.

“For whom?” came an internal reply.

“For J–”

“Jon can go fuck himself.”

Then Karyn grabbed Biff with both hands by the back of the head and pulled him down all the stronger for an even more passionate kiss.
