He wandered into the school, distracted, nearly bumping into some nerdy girl, before he continued to his first class.
He barely was able to pay attention in the class, distracted as he was. After class, the teacher called him up to the desk. "Jon, are you all right?" he asked. "You seem like something is going on."
Jon sighed. "I'm sorry, Mr, Cohen. I'm just having a bad day..."
"Well, hopefully tomorrow will be better," the teacher replied, sympathetically. Teachers were human beings, after all...
"I hope so," Jon agreed. Mr. Cohen...Jon didn't even know his first name, was a good teacher. Many of his teachers felt like two dimensional caricatures. He knew there was probably more to them than that, but most of them did not reveal it to their students. He didn't know that much about Cohen, but he seemed genuinely interested in the lessons and his students. The sort of teacher who students remembered. Considering all that was on his mind, it was nice to have an interaction that seemed completely normal and mundane.
He headed out into the hall, toward his next class. He walked in and froze, suddenly realizing the current situation wasn't limited to just Zoe.
