Jon hesitated for a bit before following the two blondes down the hall. He still needed to go to the same class as Karyn, but as long as Sarah was physically holding Karyn’s wrist he didn’t see a way that he could get closer to Karyn without getting himself into trouble, and he didn’t want to go up against the two of them on his own.
When he arrived at the classroom door, it was just as Sarah was coming back out.
“Don’t you go anywhere near my friend,” Sarah hissed. “I made sure that she’s sitting with Amber and Tiffany, and they’ll both claw your eyes out if you try anything.”
Then the cheerleader stormed off, leaving Jon completely overwhelmed as he stood in the doorway.
Right in that moment, Karyn had a feeling of warm egg yolk sliding down her throat, as she came back up from an apparent fog. She’d been having a conversation with two cheerleaders, Tiffany Sanders and Amber Levine, but she couldn’t quite recall what about. And that entire idea was slowly fading for Karyn, even as the other two girls’ attention slowly shifted away from Karyn and towards one another.
She blinked, then looked up. Jon was just entering the classroom, but he was the last student to make it and the only available seat left was on the other side of the room from Karyn. He gave her a helpless shrug as he sat down.
“Hey,” Amber tapped Karyn on the shoulder from behind. “Your outfit is really cute today.”
Karyn’s face flushed red at the reminder of what she was wearing. “This? No, I kind of,” she struggled for an explanation, “I sort of ended up wearing this by mistake. It’s way too revealing, it’s not for me.”
“Too revealing?” Tiffany joined. “That’s ridiculous, it’s just the right amount of revealing. It’s perfect on you, really. It makes you look very pretty.”
Despite her discomfort with the outfit, a warm feeling began to build inside of Karyn as the compliments kept coming.
“You should wear outfits like that more often,” Amber gushed.
“You’ll drive the boys wild,” Tiffany giggled.
Karyn wasn’t used to this kind of praise, especially from these sorts of people. And, despite herself, she was starting to enjoy the attention, right as the bell rang and the teacher began her lecture.
