He smiled at me. "Yes. It has come to pass as you said. And just as you said, I think it is time to announce a new cadet branch to represent our house in this region." he said. That was a good idea. It was also one of mine. The king and his retinue prepared to leave. When they were gone, we had to decide who would run the town for the king when Lord Jeffery Swiftheart and his wife left for the farmland to establish the county seat. It was something of a crucial deal. While it was crown property, the king was only going to come for hunts and to make use of the sauna. Order still needed to be maintained in the streets. Fabien was the second son. It only made sense that he would stay behind when the new settlement was ready. That was still a long ways off anyway. We still had a bit more debt to settle with the White Family. It was a bit too soon to ask them for an entirely new loan. With the manor already built, it was effective for them to rule from here. It also would not be a stretch to just ask the king for their funds to build a castle town. They knew we were accomplished land developers.

Calling on a favor like this so soon was not in good taste. It would be better to stay in the town for now. We had decided to go with a simple name for it. The name of the town was Huntston. Count Jeffery also changed the family name from Swiftheart to Swifthunt. He was going all in on this motif. Then again, it was not a bad thing to lean into a strong point. He had taken his small family from insignificant, provincials to well off nobles in the king's good graces. Getting the idea of hunting combined with their family was good. With this display of merrymaking, it would be nice to forge strong alliances. Neither Simon, Fabien nor Anthony were married. Getting them hitched to a noble family could give the a seat at the table for politics going forward. Simon was serving as regent all the way back in Hereford. Someone had to sit in that castle. The fact Jeffrey's uncle had not taken the castle back by now was a marvel. "He wouldn't dare try. We outmaneuvered him. If he tried anything, the king would hear of it." the count said. We just needed to close out our debts to the White Family. Then get money.
