I was really impressed. They did not mess around with the great quality in the video being shown as a game cutscene. "Ready to create warp bridge." 03-005 steadily announced. "Proceed." was what the Sonic Clan leader responded with. The XX-frame clasped its hands together and then spread them apart. A big teal burst of energy appeared between its fingers. As it's arms stretched to the widest point, a 1000 foot portal appeared. Everything was going well until what seemed like an electric discharge shot from their portal and hit the XX-frame. The others did not waste time doing the same. The discharge effected them as well. It seemed to travel the length of their huge mechas and the portal flickered, even as they intermixed. That was really concerning. Several people pointed it out as well. I wondered what happened to them. "Status Report. 03-005. Fighter." the leader commanded. "It is too much! We- we can't h-hold it!" 05 screamed in pain. That was not a good sign. Before the leader could say anything in response, another discharge of energy hit. It was dangerous.
This time, it went all around them before there was a loud explosion. All of our communications went dead. Both clan leaders in the command center scrambled to regain full connection with them on their end. Everyone in the hanger watching was very unsettled and upset. None more so than PBJ and Radioactive Clans. They might just have lost a member of each of their clans. I stood up and said "What the hell just happened!? We need to figure this out." Others demanded results. After the minute, we got visuals back on the screen. It was a really low resolution and there was tons of static. It was another cutscene. I guessed that this meant it was meant to happen as a cannon event. No sound was audible for another 6 minutes. From there, all that we could hear was a pained groaning. I certainly did not like the sound of that. No one else did from the look of it. We were anxious to know if they were okay. Things were quickly looking like it was not the case. "Status Report! 03-005! Fighter! Respond!" the coalition leader frantically called for them. There was a pause with a bit of static.
Waiting for a reply was like waiting for the sound of a pin being dropped. "The warp gate created was too unstable with the energy we had to generate it. There was a big discharge of energy which caused an explosion near the groinal plate. A chain reaction ensued" 03-005 said very weakly. "What is the status of Fighter and other pilots?" the leader of Heat Clan asked. It was what everyone in the hanger clan wanted to know right now. There was another static filled pause. "All 8 pilots sustained critical damage as a result of the explosion. Many ran out of energy after healing most of the internal damage. Some even ran out of energy without healing their damage. This is unsustainable. Without a functional AEP pilot in the roles of Positive and Negative Charge, operation of the XX-frame is impossible." he reported. They were dead in the water. "Understood. Conserve energy" the coalition leader said to them. All of the cyborg clan engineers got together in the command center with the officers and began talking. It took them an hour before they came back to us in the main theatre.
Looking at them, I could see they had figured something out. The Radioactive Clan leader got our attention immediately when they cleared their throat. They did not need to do that. "From all the data we just collected we have determined that opening a warp gate of that size is indeed too risky for a single XX-frame as it becomes much too unstable to maintain. Apparently, not even 4 is enough." "And about the pilots!?" I asked them. She looked at me. They said "All 8 are in critical condition. Most are unresponsive in the Positive Charge position. The others are too injured to replace them for a return journey. We will need to launce a rescue mission. The only way to heal them fully would be for another AEP unit to join them in the cockpit. One of the pilots will have to enter their XX-frame and deploy a energy generator to give them enough to self regulate and become operational. In order to maintain a stable warp gate, we theorize we need 5 XX-frames." That was a very tall order. We had to act now. There was no time. I stood up and looked around me. It was our time to shine.
