It was a little after 10 am at Modez Fashion when Rachael opened the door to her store. She had gotten the all clear from the firemen earlier that morning. That early that the call had woken her up. She had enjoyed her night out but wanted to make sure her shop was ok after yesterday. She knew that there had been someone watching over the building since she and the rest of the shop owners were made to leave the building the day before, but she had to make sure.

The publicity stunt that she had been running yesterday had been ruined due to the gas leak, but at least the shop had been busier than usual because of it. Hopefully, she could come up with something else to keep her business afloat. She didn’t want to have to close the up for good.

It was at that moment that Rachael heard the knock at the door of the shop. She turned to see Michaela standing there. Rachael went over and opened it. “You are early. Your shift doesn’t start for a bit.”

“I know, but I heard about the gas leak and wanted to see how things were,” Michaela told her friend.

“Everything is ok, nothing in here was affected, you know me, I had to make sure for myself,” Rachael told her friend.

“You have always been like that since high school,” Michaela replied.

“True, well, since you are here early, you can go and get us a coffee. Shirley’s should be open by now.” Rachael said.

“Yes, boss,” Michaela said, smiling.

“How many times have I asked you not to call me that?” Rachael said.

“I know, but it's fun to wind you up,” Michaela said as she left to get the coffee.

“She has always been a wind-up merchant since school,” Rachael said to the empty shop as she started to straighten the outfits on the nearby mannequins.
