Dalia turned towards the storeroom and the exit she had seen there earlier. Once inside, she looked around and grabbed a bag hidden on the shelf in the corner. She had seen it earlier, it was where Carly had left her things. She didn't want Carly to get any ideas.
Dalia took the phone that she had been using to contact her friend with and hit the button to make the call. Only to have the call go to voicemail. “I need to speak to you. Carly asked for the binding, and until the sun goes down, I am a human. I want to make sure I stay this way.”
Dalia went to sit at a nearby bus stop to wait for her friend to call her back. Things were starting to come into focus for her, as if a haze had been lifted. She opened the bag and started looking through it, surprised she knew the names of some of the items in the bag. Keys, a change purse...She was gaining the knowledge of a human. Did that mean that Carly would only have the knowledge of a mannequin? She was amazed at how easily the words came to her mind....mannequin, human...
Why was her friend not answering the phone? She found Carly's phone in the bag as well. Unlike the small simple phone she'd been using, this was a complete smartphone. She jingled the keys. At least if her friend didn't get back to her soon, she'd have somewhere to go.
Meanwhile, Carly lay motionless in the storeroom, lit only by the emergency light, She tried to focus on the name of the soft body who had dressed her. She thought back to the experience...and she was even having trouble seeing the face clearly...the only part that was clear was being dressed.
As the cycle began, Carly gave in to the stillness.
