Calling me out, he said "Please, Sir Rhombus. It's been a long day. I don't have time for your inane ramblings. These gloves shook the hand of a Colorless. It takes away any value it had. And I've already heard enough of your world to know that gloves aren't as valuable as you claim. You have machines to make thousands of them a day if you were telling us the truth. An artisan's masterworks would be valuable in any world, but this was not sourced by any renowned craftsman." That was true. I still held onto them. "Are you too tired to explain what happened in the meeting? I was being honest when I said the business talk went over my head. At some points, I'm sure my eyes glazed over." He simply smirked. "Yes we all noticed that look. It was quite the spectacle to see a man so out of his depth he looks like he's seen field combat. You honestly did not hear them make jokes at your expense? I did too, to be honest." he said with a teasing tone. I frowned. "I don't believe I remember much of anything said at those times. You will have to explain that deal to your father. He's signing it now."
It seemed he did well enough. His father was satisfied with the deal. Lord Swiftheart then looked at me. "Are you leaving for your world now, then? It might take a year for us to start our journey to the site of the resort." This would actually be the best time to go. Gathering all of the men and the materials would certainly take time. "Yes. I will take my leave. I do not intend to stay there long. Just enough to see my parents and check some of my hiding spots for money and gold. I'm expecting them to all be gone, but you never know." I said. I was not going over by myself. My 2 centaur companions were coming along. I doubted they could cross over with me, but it would be really good to have companions. Especially if we would be crossing over into dangerous tribal centaur territory. "I grant you leave to say goodbye to your family. You might be able to continue your thieving. I'm sure the best thief is someone that people already assume is dead." he said. He was not too positive that I would ever return to this world. I certainly could resume my life there. This was too interesting though.
Doing more heists would be thrilling. That was true. Being a rouge medieval knight and helping a small cadet branch rise up the social ladder would be even more so. He practically dismissed me. I was not going to let this go to waste. Standing up, I bowed to the noble family. "Thank you for your trust in me and I wish you good luck. I will be back as soon as physically possible." I said before leaving to pack my things for the trip. Going to the portal would be a bit dangerous. Luckily, I would be with 2 large and powerful centaur knights. My remaining gold and jewels were all coming with me for my security. They were my bodyguards, and they were deadly. I was very deadly as well. Travelling that far of a distance would be risky though. I did not want to run into bands of bandits or the wild centaurs. That centauress was beyond my ability to take down. Having multiple of them running me down would simply be impossible to escape. Once I was done, I went out to speak to them. They seemed like they were ready. They did not have many trinkets on them. The 2 did have nice some things.
