Calling on the Osna people, the spirits wanted shrines to be erected for them as well. As spirits, we could be venerated and worshiped as very minor deities. Since we all were doing our jobs as guardians, they wanted some sign of recognition as payment. Each of the towns had a row of 6 shrines the size of a chicken coop. Inside each of them was a replica of our weapons. We went over to bless them with a small amount of our power. What that meant for me was that I was locked at 88% health. The benefit was that whenever someone prayed to me or gave an offering at the shrine, I would temporary stat boost equal to the power I invested. Because I spread it out for all of the shrines, each one could give me a different stat increase when I set them up. There were five disciplines for Blade Spirits: Reach, Power, Speed, Durability and Magic. Osna gave me Power. Andron gave me Speed. I wanted Ethana to give me Magic. Battleville was home. It gave me Durability. There were actual Blade Spirit deities. There were deities for everything. Eswirl the Light Blade got one.
Our Shrines
Darwo the Evil also got a shrine erected in our section of Battleville. I did not approve of worshipping an evil god. Shank, Krit and Knat all venerated him. Of course they did. That's just what assholes do. Knat was not really an asshole, but he did whatever Krit said. When people realized that there were spirits living among them that openly worshipped an evil god, it caused a stir. While war and the pursuit of wealth obviously could get ugly, they did not worship the darker aspects through evil deities in the open. It was just common sense. Reshon was known as a lawful good deity. Lintana was a true neutral goddess. Tactica and Ultam were lawful neutral and chaotic good gods of war that Ethan's Serpents and Adrien and Ronnie's Bastard Blades respectively worshipped. Even the blood hungry gods of the valley were not evil. They were true neutral. They did what was good for the valley. If you worshipped them, they would include you in the valley. If they disliked you, the valley itself would become hostile to you. Worshipping Darwo the Evil was not looked well upon us.
Evil was even in his name. I decided to worship Eswirl. Shank, Krit and Knat forced their champions, the wives and children to worship the evil Blade Spirit as well. The fully aware humans chafed a bit at that demand. Knat's wife and his champion's family said no. He didn't know what to do about all that defiance. He was not a very dominant spirit. His children were not aware that it was bad to worship evil gods, so they blindly followed. "Do you want to worship Eswirl!? You can, I guess. He is also a figure worthy of veneration." he offered. Given the 2 choices, they chose to worship Eswirl. None of the Blade Spirits were too jealous for worshippers. As long as they gave a prayer and offering to them every once in a while, they could worship others as well. All the wives and champions in Battleville worshipped all their ancestral gods without a problem. Even though only 2 had shrines, the number of the gods were over a dozen. Before the shrines were built, they had festivals to honor the gods. Those festivals continued with in their towns. Their worship itch was scratched.
