Staring at me, he was on his last legs. I was no better. "Damn you! I'm going to destroy you, David!!" he screamed. "You can try, but it won't work." I said to him. Even if I did die, I would simply respawn at my house. He charged at me with his spear. I did another dive roll and stabbed up into his chest from my knees. "Urgh!" the dragon said. He tried to pull it out but Shank had other plans. He launched out of my hands and plunged even deeper. "You're the one getting destroyed here!" we heard Shank say. As the dragon lay on the ground, his body started to glow and crumble away. The only thing that was left was the spear. "What happened to him?" I asked, still on my knees from the fight. Ace and Deuce came to help me to my feet. "His mortal form was killed. All that remains is the blade itself." Ace explained. "Oh no. Is there a way to get it back?" I asked them. They looked at each other. Deuce was the one to answer. "There is. You can't take on mortal form, but your spirit is still in the blade. Being wielded and killing other beings works. The stronger the better." he said.
Taking the huge spear in his hands, Shank smiled. He then laughed as he threw it into the air and caught it. "David and I defeated him. I will decide his fate." No one had any objections. Grabbing it with both hands, he broke the pole on his knee. The halves of the spear began to glow and disintegrate like the dragon's body. No one had to tell David that it meant the spirit was dead for good. He was super dangerous. I was not going to miss him. The matter of his women and children had to be addressed. It was not something that could be ignored. We came to the conclusion that the women could go. If they wanted to take the children, it was fine. Otherwise we would look after the hybrids. When approached, they were all too happy to leave this place and return to their families. They wanted nothing to do with the children they gave birth to. It was understandable. The Blade Spirit was cruel and raised all his children to be cruel as well. They all were hybrids. While they could not bodily transform into their weapon, they could call their internal spears out to wield for themselves.
Living a captive life at the whims of an inhuman force was something I could not blame them for wanting to abandon. They all were allowed to leave with as much gold as they could take from their homes and carry on the short trek back to their families. Since the town was already built, there was no point in not having it occupied. When a mercenary band came from our side of the valley, it was time to settle them down. The large company was simply known as Henan's Heroes. As long as they agreed to live in peace with us in the village at the far end in the undeveloped village section and be under the leadership of Gavel, they could settle all their people. What they did with the children of the dragon was not our concern. They tried to fight us when they heard we were the ones that let their mothers go. Henan was the leader of the huge company. He accepted the position as marshal. They got to make a lot of decisions because there were so many of them. We named the town Battleville. The spirits all pushed for it. We collaborated on a flag. It had to be red. It was a must.
