“Here is your coffee, Mr. Stone,” Jane said as returned to Stones’ desk.

“Thanks, Jannie. That’ll help me feel almost human. All I need to do now is get out of here without Riley seeing me leave.” Stone said as he gratefully took a sip

“Detective Riley, Mr. Stone?” She asked.

“Yeah, that's the one. Why do you ask?” Stone asked.

“I think I might be able to help with you getting out without him seeing you. He's always had a soft spot for me, so I think I can distract him.” Jane told him remembering the crush that the detective had shown for Rebecca in past episodes of the show. She thought if that was who she was meant to be in this dream surely he would have those same feelings for her.

“If you can do that, Jannie... I have a lead on who killed Monroe, but I can't follow it if he's breathing down my neck” Stone said with his eyes widening.

“Leave it to me, Mr. Stone. You can buy me a meal at that Italian place on Bleecker Street once you solve the case.” Jane (with a playful glint in her eye) told the man who was supposed to be her boss. She was really enjoying this dream now.

Last night She had a chance to dress as the woman she had idolized as a young girl now she was going to get a chance to use the same charm that Rebecca had used countless times.
“You're on, Jannie,” Stone replied with a grin on his face.

Jane turns towards the door and leaves the office, adjusting the buttons on her blouse as she walks down the stairs. As she exits the building and spots Detective Riley, a burly man in a trench coat, leaning against a lamppost across the street, watching Stone's office.

“Detective Riley! I came to see if you wanted a coffee. You must be cold sitting out here.”

The detective straightened himself up as he saw her approach, “No thanks, Jannie. How did you know I was here?” he asked her.

“Oh, Mr. Stone told me,” Jane answered him casually.

“Stone told you, eh? Is he still upstairs?” He asked.

“He was still in the office the last I saw him, Detective.” She answers honestly.

“Good. Now, if you don't mind, Jannie, I need to get back to watching your office.” The detective answers satisfied with the young woman’s answer.

“No, I don't mind. Just let me know if you want anything.” Jane answers with a sweet smile on her face. Knowing her job was done she turns and walks back inside.

At that same moment at the other end of the building, Dan Stone emerged from a rear exit, pulling his fedora lower. He looks back at the building with a knowing smile. “I knew there was a reason I kept that woman on, and it isn't for her coffee.” He said to himself as he disappeared into the shadows of the alley.

Back in Stone’s office Jane looked out the window and saw that the detective was still watching the office even though Stone was long gone.

“Men don’t matter if it's in real life or a dream show them a little bit of skin and they turn into little boys again.” She said to herself as she went to start some of the very important office work that she had to do.
