Jane opened her eyes expecting to see her bedroom but she saw that she was still in Rebecca’s apartment. She didn’t remember ever falling asleep in a dream before but that was what appeared to have happened. Maybe she hadn’t fallen asleep it might just have seemed that way to her.

It seemed that her dream of being part of Stone P. I wasn’t over yet. For the moment at least it looked like she was to continue playing the part of Stone’s secretary Jannie well that was what she remembered being called when she had last seen Stone. She went to get ready for the day ahead.

She stood at the foot of Rebecca’s bed wearing a sophisticated grey skirt suit and white gloves which she had found in the closet. Somehow like the burgundy dress she had worn the last time she had stood in front of the same mirror, the suit fit her as if it was made for her. It was impeccably tailored, with a fitted jacket and a pencil skirt, complimented by black high-heeled pumps. She had never been a big fan of heels but if she was going for a look that would fit in with her dream of being in Stone P. I then they were a must.
She had made sure her makeup was well-applied, featuring red lipstick. She looked at her hair in the mirror once she had finished fixing it in the updo style that Rebecca always wore to the office. Somehow it seemed lighter more blonde than her usual red maybe it was just the lighting in the apartment. Yes, that was it the lightning.

She headed to the office displaying Rebecca’s usual air of composed confidence.

A short time later as Jane walked into the office, she was greeted by the familiar face of Dan Stone her boss.

The office is dimly lit as usual. The cigarette smoke hung in the air. Stone is still wearing the same rumpled suit he had been when she had last seen him. (Last night ) He sat behind his desk

“Good morning, Mr. Stone,” Jane said as she put the light on.

“Morning, Jannie.” Stone grumbled in reply.

“Coffee, Mr. Stone?” She asked

“No thanks, Jannie. The whiskey's fine. Keeps the chill out… and the memories at bay. Spent the night in a cell while the cops made sure I didn't kill Monroe.” Stone informs her

“Oh, Mr. Stone! Well, at least they know now you didn't do it. Still, I'll make you a coffee anyway. It's better for you in the morning than whiskey, even after a night like that.” Jane replies trying to sound concerned

“If you say so, Janie. If you say so. Make it strong, will ya? Maybe spike it with a little something...just kidding. Mostly.” Stone says with a small smile on his face.

Jane stood at the kitchenette at the other end of the office filling the kettle, Monroe, Monroe. She thought this must be The Man with the Scar. She remembered that was the episode that was due next when she had sat down on the couch. So it made sense somehow for that to be the episode that her brain had cast her in.

It was a good episode, not one of the best but a good one nonetheless. She just wished that it was one that her character had more to do. Still, it was a good dream she thought as she opened her purse and took out a cigarette and lit it. Looks like it's going to be a long day she thought as she headed back with the coffee.
