In the adjoining room, Jon's girlfriend looked at him. "Come on, what's wrong?"
Jon looked at her. "Wrong?"
"Come on, Jon-Boy...we've known each other since we were five. You are the worst liar in the world," she said. "Something is wrong."
"It's just..." he looked at the door.
"It's some kissing, Jon...your Mom knows about it. I mean, it's not like we're having sex or anything..." She insisted.
Jon nearly choked. His girlfriend frowned. She knew she had pushed Jon into moving their relationship from best friends to dating...he'd been worried that he'd lose her. But she wasn't sure what was bothering him right now.
In a previous, unremembered life, Amber Levine had been a hanger on with the popular crowd...Sarah's seat filler. Even Sarah didn't know that much about her real opinions or interests. She hadn't even recognized her in her new life. Amber Black was a star by comparison. Popular, athletic, but still a bit of a tomboy...and more recently, dating Jon.
"Jon...seriously..."
"I...it's..." he tried to explain it without explaining it.
She wrapped her arms around him, and leaned in to kiss him. She knew Jon loved her, and she loved him...she just had to help him get over his skittishness. She thought she had, and wasn't sure what had happened today to change that.
She pulled back. "Better?"
Jon looked at her. "Much," he said. And it was like he was over it again...It was probably just him overthinking again.
