Any cantrip that Xavier casted with the tome was then considered a warlock cantrip. If he ever lost the Book of Shadows, he could perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement of the book. This big ceremony could be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroyed the previous book. The Book of Shadows would turn to red ash when Xavier died. His mother was a good wizard and he had always admired her. Not having the aptitude to actually be a wizard hurt their relationship. Xavier's father was just a normal guy. It was no surprise when he chose 3 wizard cantrips to enter. That was extremely predictable. He wanted to be a wizard so bad. Marantyz also directly taught him Blindness, Deafness and Scorching Ray. I watched this happen. It was pretty cool. Aside from the 5 spells he learned from the incubus, he now had 5 cantrips. Those were Mage Hand, Prestidigitation, Toll the Dead, True Strike and Chill Touch. As he had leveled up, now he could choose his Eldritch Invocations. I would have thought he would come running here as soon as he hit 2nd level.
Either something kept him from coming back here until now, or all his training really paid off. Since he had the Pact of the Tome, he chose Eldritch Invocations that would enhance it. First, he chose Aspect of the Moon. He no longer needed to sleep and could not be forced to sleep by any means. To gain the benefits of a long rest, Xavier could simply spend all 8 hours doing some light activity, such as reading his Book of Shadows and keeping watch. His second choice was Book of Ancient Secrets. That was actually pretty good. He could now inscribe magical rituals into his Book of Shadows. Xavier would be able to choose two 1st-level spells that have the ritual tag from any class's spell list. The spells did not need to be from the same spell list either. The spells appeared in the book and did not count against the number of spells he could remember. With his Book of Shadows in hand, he could cast the chosen spells as rituals. That did not take up spell slots. It did take 10 minutes longer to cast though. If it was something that could wait, this could be worth it. It saved a ton of mana.
On his future adventures, he could add other ritual spells to his Book of Shadows. Xavier wasted no time scrawling in his Book of Shadows. He already knew exactly what spells he wanted. He picked Alarm and Identify. Those were another 2 wizard spells. Although he was not born with the needed mana to be a wizard, he had found a way to become one through the back door. He knew a total of 7 spells and 5 cantrips. He had said early on that one had to master 2 spells of 2nd level or higher to be accepted into the Mage's Guild. Xavier had mentioned that Robal City was where the closest branch was stationed. If he got there and was accepted, he would be able to become the mage that he always wanted. It would also give him the right to claim his place in his maternal lineage of all wizards and witches. I was not too concerned with that. I wanted to know more about the Adventurer's Guild and how to get into it. I approached and said "You might need an escort to get to Robal City. How about we go there together? We also have been training and copying spells like crazy."
