Jane had finished getting changed into the dress she had found and was now copying one of Rebecca’s signature poses. She had seen her wear this same dress in a magazine interview that she had found years after the show had finished airing. She had never in her wildest dreams thought that she would ever get to wear the dress but then that was what this was wasn’t it a very detailed dream?

She remembered the picture from that interview it showed the actress with her blonde hair styled in a classic 1950s updo. Jane had wished that her mom had let her dye her reddish-blonde hair blonde but she wouldn’t allow it. In the picture, Rebecca wore the same form-fitting, dark burgundy off-the-shoulder dress that she was wearing at the moment including the bow detail at the bust. The knee-length dress was made of a smooth, satin fabric, which felt fantastic against Janes’ skin. She also found the pearl necklace and earrings that she had seen in the picture. She had even matched her makeup, and red lipstick, and had subtly defined her eyes. She had even painted her nails red to match the lipstick.

She tried to match the confident expression on her face that she had seen in the picture. She sat on the dark teal velvet chaise lounge that sat in the main room of the apartment. On the small, round side table she positioned beside her, she sat a glass of whiskey next to the ashtray. She picked up the cigarettes she had found in Rebeccas’ bedroom and put them on the table.

She hadn’t smoked in years not since she had Jon she didn’t think it was right to smoke with a baby in the house so she quit. It had been difficult but she got through it. Now she found the pull of the cigarettes irresistible. So she took one out of the packet and lit it and brought it to her lips.

Behind her, the large window offered her a breathtaking view of the New York City skyline at night if she had turned around. The city lights twinkled, and several skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building, were clearly visible.

“This must have been what it felt like to have posed for that picture. Best dream ever.” She said out loud.
