Jon turned to face Rebecca, “What were you doing before this happened?” He thought that this might help in getting his mom back. He stopped for a minute, he wondered if this had anything to do with his earlier wish something interesting would happen but he couldn’t see how.
“I was sitting behind my desk in Mr S’ office doing some typing then I was here,” Rebecca answered. She didn’t tell him that she had been daydreaming about a life away from Stone. As much as she liked working for him she had been getting bored lately. Every day seemed to be the same as the one before. Some dame would turn up looking for Mr Stone to help her and he would drop everything for the dame.
He never seemed to notice her Rebecca thought. He never saw how much she wanted him and perhaps he never would. She had been wondering if her mom had been right after all. She would never have admitted to her Mom that she was right but it was starting to look like she might have been.
Never throw yourself at a man Becky. If he doesn’t see you for what you are walk away. Was what her Mom would say about men especially since her dad had left them a few years back. Maybe that’s why she had been thinking the way that she had been. The kid next to her didn’t need to know that.
“Nothing else?” Jon asked her.
“Nothing else.” Came the reply.
There had to be something that had caused this to happen, people didn’t just get pulled into a TV show every day he thought. Well, there was that old movie where that guy signed a contract with the devil for a new TV after his TV had been smashed by his wife. However, sitting in the living room was their old TV complete with the scratch on the side from where his Mom had hit it with the table while moving it last year. So he ruled that out besides he didn’t think that his Mom was the type to sign a deal with the devil.
