He was now an executioner. Jalgros and Zannormin were quick to come over to gloat at me. "See how a true pitfiend offspring gets promoted!? You have spoiled the potential of the others with your soft ways." Jalgros teased. I rolled my eyes. "If you want the others to catch up, you need to be ruthless with them." Zannormin said with a smirk. Crossing my arms, I said "I guess you both forgot Blaze and Spark got promoted first. My weakest offspring. The others will get their chance to shine." That made them pissed. Spark and Blaze destroyed those 3 pit fiends. Barons of Hell, their job was now to keep all the fires in the Citadel lit. It was tedious and silly. I was still proud of them. Bel approached us. We bowed to him because he was our master. "You have raised a great offspring. He will be a credit to our kind." Bel said to them. I saw ihem glow with pride. The general then turned to me. "I do not tolerate idleness here. I expect your other offspring to pull their weight. None have impressed me so far." he said curtly. "Aside from Blaze and Spark!?" I asked. He frowned. "They won."
Clearly, he would much rather they did not. Because it was a trial by combat, they had to be promoted. Those were the rules. I smiled wide and said "I am very glad you mentioned this. Manny, Sorrath, Blondie and Goldie are all ready to be sent out on a mission." Bel raised an eyebrow. "Really now? What can soft and pampered incubi do? They'd get torn apart by the legions." he challenged. "Within 2 months, they can each steal a high ranking adventurer's soul. Maybe even sooner than that." I said confidently. Bel, Jalgros and Zannormin were stunned by the boldness. "Those puny whelps? Doing so diabolical!?" Bel chuckled. I held my ground. "I really don't see a reason they could not get it done. I raised them well." I said. Seeing my arrogance as something he wanted to put down, he snarled. "You say sooner!? Fine. They have 1 month to bring back a gold ranked adventurer or better. Have them all out by tomorrow, Wraxix!" he commanded. "What will they earn for success?" I asked. "I swear on the Styx if they pull this off, they can each lead a legion of devils." he spat sardonically.
Grinning from ear to ear, I said "How generous, my lord. 4 whole legions is an amazing prize." All of my offspring were still standing right behind me. They had heard everything. Since the event was over, we were all dismissed. It was time for me to get them ready. When we were back in my quarters, I dismissed everyone aside from Manny, Sorrath, Blondie and Goldie. I pulled them into a tight huddle and gave them very specific instructions. I then presented Manny with his rapier. The others wanted their plushies, but I did not let them. "All this time, Manny has gone without his token of affection from me. You will spend 3 years in the Mortal Plane with the inverse. I gave you these instructions because they will work. If something does go wrong, I trust you are smart and clever enough to improvise." I said. "Yes, Father." they said in unison. I smiled and added "Remember, the condition for success is one gold ranked adventurer each. If you can push them a bit further along with the time you have left, then do so. Just be careful. You don't want them wiped out 3 and a half years in."
When I made a teleportation circle, I set it to Heath's kitchen. "You remember Heath. He is the mother of Spark and Blaze. You will respect him and his family. After you steal souls, you should be able to come home. If you fail your mission, you would come back here through the portal he has." I ordered. They nodded and went through. I smiled wide. From there, all I could do was wait for them to return to us. The next day, I was called in to speak to Bel. He looked at me from his throne. "I haven't noticed those 4 around. I assume they left." he said. I bowed and said "I sent them at the earliest opportunity." He then dismissed me. I had total confidence in them. Manny was a pure bred incubus. Sorrath, Blondie and Goldie were pit fiend/ incubi hybrids. The 3 were born from Zannormin. From me, they gained the ability to go ethereal. They also could shapeshift into a more pit-fiendish form. They could not use charms or change sex, but they could consume energy from humanoids and enter dreams. They could produce deadly venom from their mouths like their mom. They had a fear aura.
