It was actually amazing. I was now level 226. We all had been raised to noble attendants of Bel. If Bel was a duke and general of Avernus, Jalgros and Zannormin were counts. They were given legions of their own to manage. Grulilan and Zaranarax were attendants in the Bronze Citadel. They took up court functions and played the game of politics with the other fiends. I was also a count. I was a court mage and was given a building all to myself. That was where I would sleep. Kyle and Myles were released to me because I owned them. Blaze, Spark and the other children were also given to me. I was their parent, so it was only fair. Blaze and Spark were given baron titles. The fact they were born from a fire elemental made them disfavored. As a court mage, I was to assist the official court mage, a sorcerer with his tasks. As a devil in Avernus, his job was to prepare the devils for the everlasting war against the demons. Many of us had a long history of fighting demons. Sharing our insights and stories got us all a lot of clout and respect. I was given a ton of huge fetch quests to do.
Zannormin had given birth to Jalgros's offspring during the march. He was a little pit fiend whelp. Devils were supposed to be terrifying creatures. The babies were not cute at all. Neither Jalgros nor Zannormin allowed me to give him any trinkets. I was sad about that. His name was Argan. They thought it would make him weak. They had made it clear that I was not to interfere with him at all. It was a huge matter of pride for them. They wanted Argan to be the best out of all the offspring. Just because I was not able to interfere with Argan's development did not mean I could not discipline him. He was the younger sibling to everyone else. I did not tolerate the whelp being mean to his siblings. If he tried to beat up his siblings, they were strong or fast enough to avoid him. The siblings with plushies would fight to the death for them. That was something that I instilled into them all. Having a trinket was a symbol that they had my favor. It put them above any random child. It was something that was truly theirs. It was very funny seeing Argan being repelled by his siblings. He thought they were weak.
Muscling in and taking what he wanted was not going to work. They were too strong for that. Pit fiends were naturals at infernal politics. Argan could try to lie, cheat and steal his way into a plushie, but they were not going to let them out of their sight. Whenever he failed to get the job done, he would stew in anger. Then he would find a weaker whelp in the citadel and beat them senseless. Typical whelp behavior. Argan got no sympathy from his parents. If anything, they were upset that the offspring of an incubus could out perform a pure blooded pit fiend. Because most of my children were evil, I had to manage their emotions and relations between each other. I did not want them fighting amongst themselves. Manny was never given a plushie. I was keeping his rapier safe. That saved him from Argan's little schemes. Blondie and Goldie in particular were his targets. Tack, Teck, Tock and Tuck had horns and a tail like a true pit fiend. Sorrath was female and was protected by her brothers. I also stepped in quicker for her than with the other boys. Sorrath was the only female offspring that I had.
