"Please, Officer Maybourn, put the gun down. We're only trying to help you," said one of the paramedics who had arrived in an ambulance just a moment earlier.
"No! Something isn't right! Can't you see that? This man isn't a cop!" Kurt yelled, pointing at Brick, but keeping his gun trained on the EMT. "Tell me where Danielle is."
"Who?" the paramedic asked. He looked over at Brick, who just shrugged his shoulders. After all, he didn't know anyone by that name. Not on the police force or anywhere else, for that matter.
"Danielle Chase! My partner!" Kurt yelled. "You find her! Right now!"
"Okay, okay. We'll find her," the paramedic said, humoring him. "Just put the weapon down."
Kurt looked like he was going to do it, but then saw the look on Brick's face, as well as the paramedic he was talking to and the ambulance driver standing near the medical vehicle. They didn't believe him. They thought he had lost his mind and was now a danger to himself and others. "Fine! I'll show you then. I'll show you what made Danielle disappear!"
The three people exchanged confused expressions, then became alarmed when Kurt turned around and sprinted into the woods. Thinking he was trying to flee, Brick and the two EMTs pursued him, not realizing what they'd find. Brick had already been affected by the cloud, but the paramedics had not. What would become of them?
