Jon sat into the pushchair and passively allowed allowed Karyn to close the safety straps including the strap that ran between his legs. If not for the padding of the diaper that strap would probably be a bit uncomfortable.
He saw Karyn walk into the next room and come back with what looked like a diaper bag. "What's that for?" he asked.
Karyn hunkered down to be at eyeblevel with Jon and opened the bag in front of him. "This bag has everything my precious baby might need. Spare diapers, wipes, snacks, bottles of milk, and of course your pacifier." Karyn held the pacifier out to Jon and accepting his role for now and with an eye on the promised prize if he played along he just shrugged and popped it in to his mouth. It wasn't actually as bad as he thought. It was kind of like a stress reliever to just suck away on the teat and not really think about it.
Karyn put the bag into the net under the buggy and opened the front door. Jon was glad it was getting dark and hoped to avoid anyone who might know, at least until they got to the party. Katy was playing her part perfectly, blowing bubbles with a piece of gum and chatting away about the most inane topics to Jon, putting a ditzy, airheaded spin on everything she said. Jon started to find it funny and he was kind of I'm pressed by her commitment to the bit.
When they turned onto the street where the party was taking place they bumped into Pete and Trevor who were heading the same way. Karyn stopped pushing and waited for the other two to join them and they spent a few minutes talking about each others costumes.
