Katie walked into the kitchen.
"Megan? Have you see that Medallion? I had it with me last night and ..." She stopped and stared. "Nicki?"
Nicki was sitting at the kitchen table, wearing a halter top and jeans.
"But ... you changed back to normal. Why ...?"
"Why did I change back into Nicki?"
Katie nodded.
"I figured that my life was okay the way it was. And this way we can still be best friends." Nicki could see some hesitation in Katie's eyes. "What?"
"Well, you're not really a girl. You're actually a guy."
"Not for the last three years."
"But inside you were. Are you saying that you did this for me?"
"You don't seem happy about it," Nicki observed.
"It's awkward, that's all. I'll always know from now on that you're not really a girl."
After this, Nicki was starting to have second thoughts again. She thought that Katie would be overjoyed at having her friend Nicki back. But it was clear that she wasn't.
If she wanted to change back to Nick again, she'd have to wait another 12 hours. So, for the moment, she'd have to stay as Nicki.
