The rest of the trip was silent, with Jess thinking about her new life.
They arrived at a big house, more like a mansion, with a big well kept garden, right next to the lake.
“Where are we?” Asked Jess.
“This is your new home. I bought it for mom, you, Zoe, and Mikey. That old house had become too small for all of you and I decided to surprise mom.”
“It is really… really cool” said Jess getting out of the car, admiring the estate. “Thanks, I guess”.
Jennifer just smiled as she waved goodbye from her car, driving away. “Say hi to mom, I’ll be back for dinner tomorrow.”
Coming inside, Jess was unsure of where to go. Zoe appeared out of a corner, eating a sandwich. She looked a little older, and she was dressing normally. No trace of goth Zoe. Jess guessed those 2 years were really gone. What had she missed?
“Hey, Jess. Was that Jen?”
“Uh, yes, she dropped me off after we… eh, went shopping.”
“Cool. See you around.”
“Wait! I, uh, still get kinda lost around this big house, haha. Which way was my room?”
Zoe just laughed and as she walked away said “you’re silly”
Jess, blushing, went in the direction Zoe had gone, finding a door with a convenient “Jessica” sign on it. Inside, she found a room very similar to Jessica’s old room, only bigger, filled with more things and clothing spread all around. It looked nothing like Jon’s old room, much to her disappointment. It looked like what it was supposed to be: an 18 year old girl’s room.
After looking briefly around her room, she went exploring the rest of the house.
Massive spaces and rooms, full of gadgets, furniture, and electronics. It looked like a celebrity’s home. All over the house, she kept seeing things that confirmed she had skipped 2 years.
“What the hell is going on?” Muttered Jessica to herself. “I need to see Karyn”.
