The new Jessica got dressed in the most practical clothes she could find, tight jeans and a t shirt. Getting dressed wasn't easy, but she managed to do it. The hardest part was looking and feeling her new body, seeing her new feminine wardrobe, everything screaming at her she wasn't her old male self anymore.
She went downstairs to have some breakfast, feeling awkward with the interactions with her family. Her mom, Mikey, and Zoey saw her and treated her as Jessica.
It was a matter of waiting, Jessica had told herself, for Jennifer HAD to come out of her room eventually, and when she did, she would go in and steal the stone back. If not, she would tackle Jennifer and get it back by force.
She waited and waited, declining invitations from his mom and siblings to go out, ignoring the increasing text and call notifications on her phone. "Jess can answer to those when she's back in her body" Jessica told herself out loud. On her way out, Linda heard her, thought her daughter was acting even crazier than usual, but let it slip.
Eventually, Jennifer came into the house through the front door, finding Jessica by herself, almost falling asleep on the couch. "Hey sis, how's it going?" Jennifer greeted her.
Jessica thought it was weird, wasn't Jennifer in her room? Had she used the stone to be somewhere else? If so, why did she remember the "old reality"? Looking closer at Jennifer, she thought she could see something different.
"Jess, can we stop playing games and try to go back to our original bodies?" Jessica managed to say.
"Remember, my name is Jennifer. You are Jessica now, but you don't need to be Jessica if you don't want to" Jennifer replied and then continued.
"I've been using the stone, you know? It's a handy little thing. I don't even live here anymore! I have my own place, I'm older, at least legally, and on my way to a promising and long career as an international super model, not that I need the money, just to have fun and have an interesting life. From your face I can tell you don't remember this new reality, which means my wish worked great, yay! I didn't want to be the only one to remember the old Jennifer, so I wished for my 'sis' to not be affected by the new memories. Isn't that cool, Jess?"
Jessica couldn't believe it, and couldn't manage to say a word. Jennifer just kept talking.
"What about you, little sis? Do you want me to wish something for you? I could wish you were happy with your life. I don't think you want to be back to being a boy, right? Maybe I should wish you would stop calling me Jessica, that would be nice."
As Jennifer said that, she walked around the still shocked Jessica, looking serious, analyzing her old body. "I must say, you and mom are the most changed by my wish of beauty. You're looking amazing, Jess."
"Jess... I mean Jennifer, can you let me use the stone please? You're right, I'm not happy being Jess. I don't think I'll ever get used to it" Jessica said.
"Sis, you overestimate human's capacity to adapt to change. In a year or two you will have completely gotten used to being you, maybe you'll be even happier than when you were Jon! I can see you don't believe so, but you can trust me. I wished to be smarter, not too smart, but smart enough to know I'm right. Just to prove my point, I wish Jessica can only be affected by stone wishes that reinforce her Jessica identity for 2 years.".
There was a flash, but no effects were visible.
"I wish Jessica were a boy named Jon" Jennifer said out loud, but nothing happened. "Cool. Now I wish Jessica knew how to apply make up on herself". A familiar flash. "Nice, you know how to put make up on, sis. Congrats!" Jennifer said mockingly.
"Why are you even doing this?" Jessica said, at the verge of tears.
"I don't know, it's fun" she smiled.
That just did it for Jessica, who launched herself with speed and strength she didn't know she was capable of, knocking down Jennifer, pinning her against the floor.
