Yelling out in excitement, Adam pumped his fist in the air. Guy was also smiling. It seemed that Adam Topping Guy was a winning combination. Henri did think that it was a good thing they figured it out. With how late in the program they were, they did not have much wiggle room. The recruits who were official Bottoms got the blue pant legs to attach to the very tan training suit. All of the certified Tops got red sleeves added to the suit. They still had time to get the other set too. If they could get 3 more successful synchronizations as the opposite role, they could get the other half of the suit and be recognized as Switch Glowies by the program. Basically, to be a Switch, you had to get at least 6 successes. Henri was not that far off. Noel had Topped him twice already. He just had to Bottom one more time. For Calvin, Noel had Topped him once. Calvin Topped during week 4. Remi Topped him twice after that. If Calvin could Top 2 more times, he would be a Switch. Pointing it out to his friend, Henri had offered to let him Top the next week. Calvin had to take a moment to think it all over.
Zooming through the week, Remi became a Switch along with other boys getting their fifth synchronization. It was nice to have more parties. When they had parties, the base made it special. All 24 boys of the piloting program had to be there. It was a mandatory event. The mess hall had cake and plenty of meat to eat. All of the members of their squad could mingle with the boys of the other squads. Nothing profound was ever exchanged. It was just a nice time away from the hate that Henri experienced on a daily basis. Remi, Noel and Guy all hated him for being half Z'lanthrax. Even if the other boys were aware of him, they were not as angry to see him as those 3 were every single day. The only ally that he had was Calvin. Even that had cooled a bit after Noel had pulled him aside and explained what Henri did to Remi. After hearing both sides, he said it was a wash. Calvin was very wary of interactions with any of the hybrids going forward. In his mind, they were all insane and not totally trustworthy people. Henri was seriously looking forward to his second party. It would be so nice.
A wrench was thrown into the spokes of the squad when Adam asked Remi to Top him. It turned out that he did not want to be a Top. He wanted to be a Bottom. When it was brought to the attention of everyone, he was asked why. Fabien in particular wanted to know what the reason was. In typical fashion, he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't actually want to be doing all of the fighting and formations. Someone else can do that shit. I'll be keeping the lights on and the Shine standing upright. That's more my speed." he said. Henri chuckled out loud despite himself. Everyone turned to look at him. Some of them had harsher looks on their faces than others. Henri looked at them and said "I can't help it. That was such a Adam thing to say. You guys all know it! It's a bit funny." There were still giggles in his voice as he said that. Guy was not laughing. He was pissed off. "What the hell is going to happen to me. I don't have a partner anymore." Guy snapped. Adam shrugged. "Get someone else to Top you." It was not was not a very crazy ask. Guy was the one that refused 3 squad members.
