When he got out of the mock cockpit on the sixth week, Henri was walking with a noticeable limp. Still, he had done all of what he had needed to do. No one commented on it. Everyone knew how toxic their partnerships were at this point. He was 4 for 6 on his record sheet. Remi had a second party thrown for him. The week before, the base gave the twins a party for being their first recruits to reach the 5 success threshold. It was a great achievement to have done so this quickly. They had passed the piloting program with flying colors. It was something that Henri could not take away from them. Both of them had earned it. Remi was a certified Bottom pilot. Noel was now a recognized Top. After the sixth week, Remi was now certified as a Switch. Noel was 1 more successful synchronization as a Bottom away from being a Switch as well. Guy had a lock on being partners with Adam. They had finally managed to figure things out. Due to the immense stress of their month, the twins decided to go back to partnering with each other. It was probably for the best. That left Henri with Calvin.
Xanadu was a piece of cake for them by now. It was the seventh week already. Henri and Calvin were friends with high chemistry between them. Due to the month with the twins, he was able to tap into that part of himself again when he was trying to synchronize. It was not at his peak because only the hatred of Remi brought that out of him. He liked and cared for Calvin. Emitting a White Pulse of 61 was amazing. It was Calvin's idea for Henri to Top him. It seemed that his Black Pulse output was much better than his White Pulse. With a Black Pulse of 49, they were able to synchronize together. Calvin was a bit uncomfortable due to the difference of the pulses. Henri did his best to keep his partner comfortable. They made it through the simulation after 3 minutes. That was their fifth success. The very next day, there was a big party. It was not just them being celebrated. Several other boys had made it to 5 the day before as well. It was a very good thing. It meant that there were a good crop of recruits on the base. Guy and Adam got their second success too. It was good for the squad.
It was crucial that they continued to succeed. No one wanted to fail. Even if he did not have the highest opinion of them, Henri did not want to see them dismissed from the piloting program. They needed 5 successes. They had a total of 2 so far. They had 3 weeks left. Failure was not an option for this at this point. Fabien smiled at them both when they returned to us. "Looks like you guys are going to make it. I'm very proud of you guys. You 2 had a very rough and rocky start, but you both found your stride when your backs were against the wall." Calvin also had some words of encouragement. "You guys are amazing. It's going to be great. All of us are going to make it. All of us will be Glowies and fighting the Z'lanthrax! We're actually going to be those guys!" he cheered. It was clear that he was excited to do that side by side with his squad mates. Henri was looking forward to that as well. They all had come so far as a group. Honestly, they kind of deserved it at this point. People might think it was arrogant to feel that way, but Henri did not care. He wanted them all to win. Pilot too.
