Innocent or not, Henri wanted to take this chance for friendship. There was no way he could trust in Fabien further than what he could get out of him. Fabien was not the most friendly person in the squad. He was professional or courteous. It was not going to be easy to get to know him. Fabien refused to even speak to Henri in English, a language that they shared. How would he ever be comfortable to strike up a friendship with him? Guy was literally a xenophobic boy. He was hated because he was only half human. There was no real reason why. There was no reason why he would be able to be friendly with someone like that. For the same reason, he was not in the mood to entertain any idea of hanging out with Remi or Noel either. While they were also hybrids, they were of a different species. The Z'lanthrax and the Radiant Ones were mortal enemies. Henri loved his family. He liked living in his village. He had never seen a real Z'lanthrax before. More than anything, he wanted to be a UN pilot to make his mother and grandparents proud. That would make Henri a big hero to others.
Getting together was a bit difficult on them. It was hard to relate. Henri was from a rural village in the south of France. Calvin was from Marseille. While also in the south of the country, the city was the second most populous after Paris. It was also a port city so trade and cultural exchanges made the place vibrant and diverse. Henri was also much more conservative than Calvin. When Calvin made jokes or references to pop culture or celebrities, it went right over Henri's head. Some jokes also fell flat if he tried to poke at religion. One thing that always had Henri rolling on the floor was toilet humor. There was nothing like a good fart joke. Henri was also interested in some of the more elaborate pranks. He wanted Calvin to show him how to set some of them up for later deployment. The friendship was not totally one sided either. Part of Henri's nature was to be social. Whenever Calvin did anything good, Henri was the first to praise him for it. He was also considerate and would save some of Calvin's favorite foods for him. With the investment in Calvin, he stopped causing disturbances.
Him making less problems on the base was good for everyone. That meant less reprimands and punishments for the squad. Everyone could breathe a sigh of relief with that not constantly hanging over them. The battle for the top stop in the partnership of Henri and Remi continued to rage on however. They were going back and forth on a daily basis. When they had enough, they went their separate ways to vent. Noel supported his twin. Calvin was a sounding board for Henri's frustrations. All of the tension in the barracks was pretty crazy. There was nothing that could be done since neither side would back down. The whole squad would be in this tense state for at least 2 weeks. And that was just Henri with Remi. Noel fully intended to to have his own turn taking the redhead on. That would mean that the squad would be dealing with this for another 2 weeks. At least they could space it out by getting someone else to be with Henri after Remi was done. It was a long shot though. Henri had been listening to a pretty funny life story from Calvin when Remi and Noel came up to them.
