Doing something to help was not bad. Henri might not have liked all the punishments the squad had to endure because of Adam or Calvin. That did not mean that he did not want to be friends with them. Henri did not mind their sense of humor. Some of the pranks he set for Fabien or the twins got a chuckle out of him. Guy glared at him with the same intensity. It was clear that Guy was not changing his mind. Calvin rubbed the back of his neck. "Sure thing. The more friends the merrier. That's what all my parents and older cousins told me at least." he said nervously. "Whatever. You're with me for the next 2 weeks. I'm not taking no for an answer!" Remi said to Henri. He was not in a good mood. Maybe it was having to deal with Henri. Maybe because someone they thought was okay actually turned out to be a xenophobe. No matter the reason, Henri did not appreciate the tone. He turned his attention back on one of his many rivals. "It's fine with me. I'm not passing up the opportunity to get my first free synchronizations recorded." Henri said pointedly. Guy went to his cot and flopped on it.
Even though the initial matter was now over, there was still some major fallout that needed to be dealt with. Remi and Noel's pairing split up. Henri and Remi were a new pair. That left Noel and Adam without partners. Guy also took this chance to break his partnership with Calvin. The remaining 4 recruits had to find new partners. Adam did not care who he was paired with so he was not in a hurry to look. Calvin could not go to Guy, so he had 2 real options. He had wanted to join the twins last week. If it had gone through then, maybe things would be different. This time, he was not rejected by Noel. The twins were serious about piloting, they did not like Adams attitude just as much as the others. That left Guy with Adam. Maybe it would be for the best for both parties. Adam wanted to do what he wanted on his timeframe. Guy wanted to be left alone. There was room for satisfying both. Pairing up between Remi and Henri was bad. They simply could not stop butting heads. Growling and snarling from the stressed Henri became commonplace among the squad's barracks. It was concerning.
Fabien did his best to mediate, but it led nowhere. Both sides wanted to fight. They wanted to dominate the other. Henri was not the only one demonstrating some weird behavior. Remi, when stressed, would seek Noel out. He got tired of dealing with the half-Z'lanthrax boy. That was expected of twins. What was novel was what he did when he found Noel. He would bury his face into Noel's chest or neck and deeply sniff him repeatedly. The first time that it happened, everyone stopped what they were doing. Even Noel had no clue what was going on. All he could do was awkwardly pat Remi on the back. "It's okay. What's wrong?" he would ask over and over. Remi did not give an answer. All he did was make an inhuman whining sound from the back of his throat. Tears streamed down his face. Guy gave the pair a look of disgust every time after the first. Henri would often make his way over to a unoccupied Calvin to vent his frustrations. Calvin did make good on his words to try befriending Henri. Henri was the first to reach out, but that was what was needed at times. They began bonding.
