Zoe and Amber headed toward class. For a moment, they wanted to go in different directions, towards different parts of the school, but ultimately, they headed to a single room.
Amber sniffled again, and reached for a tissue from her bag, blowing her nose. Her voice was starting to sound a bit nasal as a result, and the edge of her nostrils were a bit red. "What do you think is going on?"
"I'm not sure," Zoe said. "But I think we should investigate."
"Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean...maybe we should leave this to the professionals," Amber said. "After all, we are just a couple of nerds. Yeah, it felt like Sliding, but it was probably nothing like that at all. Maybe it was just a gas leak and we all got a little concussed."
"They can try to figure this out too...I'm just saying we should too," Zoe said, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
"You sure we won't get in trouble?" Amber asked again, before blowing her nose again. Had she always had these tissues, they seemed a bit foreign to her, but she needed them, so it was not that big of a deal.
"For asking questions? This is science..." Zoe was starting to get into the idea of looking for what was going on, she did love a good mystery after all.
Zoe then turned to the person sliding into the seat next to her. "What happened to you?" She asked, hoping to get some more information from the boy.
"Mind your fucking business," he said, turning away from her. He was obviously pissed off, so Zoe did not talk to him anymore.
"Interesting," Zoe said. "I wonder if the hostility is a side effect."
Finally, someone entered and walked to the front of the room and placed a satchel on the teacher's desk before turning around to address them all.
