“Who are you?”
Hyun-Hee heard from a voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
“Who are you?” The voice repeated.
“What do you mean? I am the same person I have always been.” Hyun-Hee replied.
“Let’s try this another way,” The voice said again as a young woman appeared in front of Hyun-Hee.
The young woman had long blonde hair like Hyun-Hee. She wore a light blue sleeveless dress with a silver beaded neckline and small silver earrings. She had a warm, friendly expression on her face.
The face looked somewhat familiar to HyunHee but she couldn’t figure how. “Who are you?” Hyun-Hee asked her.
“No that is what I am asking you?” The young woman said instead of answering Hyun-Hee’s question.
“I am Hyun-Hee Mok but most people call me Holli,” Hyun-Hee said finally asking the young woman’s question.
“Are you sure or is that who Gi told you, you are?” The young woman asked.
“Who is Gi?” Hyun-Hee asked.
“Right by now you know her as Val.” The young woman said.
“Val? But Gi is a Korean name and Val is a westerner not Korean.” Hyun-Hee told the young woman.
“Are you sure of that?” Came the reply.
“Well, that’s what she said her name was when we met the other day,” Hyun-Hee said
“No, I meant about her not being Korean.” The Young woman said
“She doesn’t look Korean,” Hyun-Hee said.
“Not at the moment she doesn’t but that is only because of what she has done.” The young woman told Hyun-Hee.
“What do you mean, what has she done?” Hyun-Hee asked.
But before the young woman answered a second voice spoke.
“She has given you her answer.” The second voice said.
“I am only speaking the truth don’t tell me you are scared of the truth.” The young woman said.
“I am not scared of anything.” The second voice said.
This conversation frightened Hyun-Hee, she thought she was going mad. People didn’t just appear from nowhere and held conversations with thin air.
“Show yourself.” The young woman said.
“I will,” The second voice said
A second woman appeared once again from nowhere. Who again looked familiar to Hyun-Hee. This woman was Korean with shoulder-length dark hair styled with bangs. She wore a dark navy blue blazer with beige trim and a white collared shirt. As well as a dark gray v-neck sweater vest and a dark red and navy striped tie. The blazer had a small gold badge on the lapel which Hyun-Hee recognized from somewhere but she wasn’t sure where from.
“Gi has been tricking you so that you will take her place.” The first young woman said.
“Take her place how?” Hyun-Hee asked.
“She has given you what you wanted.” The Korean woman said
“Only because she was only given half the facts.” The young woman said.
“She still agreed.” The Korean woman said.
“현희야, 아침밥 먹을 시간이야.” (Hyun-Hee it’s time for breakfast.) A third voice said.
“Holly look at what you been told by Gi.” The young woman said.
“She already knows about the right of taegeuk.” The Korean woman said.
“현희”(Hyun-Hee)” The third voice repeated this time with a knocking sound behind it.
Hyun-Hee turned to face this other voice and found herself back in her hotel room with someone knocking at her door.
“현희”(Hyun-Hee.) The voice said from the other side of the door.
Now that Hyun-Hee was fully awake she recognised it as Mi-Ok. “나는 곧 거기에 갈거야 에오니” (I will be there soon Eonni) She answered.
“너 ~ 할 것이다 놓치다 밖으로 만약에 너 ~이다~ 아니다 동생. ( You will miss out if you are not dongsaeng.) Mi-Ok said walking to get her breakfast as she had carried out her duty in waking the other group members.
“참 이상한 꿈이네요. 무슨 뜻일까요?” (What a strange dream. What could it mean?) Hyun-Hee said to the empty room as she climbed out of her bed.
