Carly had seen Rachael leave and return to the shop in the mirror in front of her. When she came back holding a cup of coffee from the nearby coffee shop as well as one of their panni’s, she realized that it must be around lunchtime. She could only guess this as she still had no way of telling the time. That meant it would have to be somewhere around 1- 1.30, Rachael was a creature of habit she always went for lunch around 1 in the afternoon. Michaela had said that she had first thought that Rachael was doing her a favor by letting getting the earlier lunch but when Jody told her that she was doing the same with her, Michaela had figured out that she just liked to have her lunch at that time.
Carly didn’t feel hungry for some reason, she knew she should by now. She had been on display now for what must be more than 5 hours. She had been meditating on and over since she had been put on her stand. That had helped pass the time then there was the voice that she had heard a couple of times during that morning. She had thought at first that Rachael or Ashleigh were playing a joke on her but neither of them was nearby whenever the voice had said anything to her.
Especially not Ashleigh she had left the shop not long after Carly had been put on display and would not be back for a long time yet. So she didn’t think it was her. It could have been Rachael but she was not the one for playing practical jokes, so that ruled her out. So who could it be she thought.
“I am Victoria, sister.” The voice told her.
Again Carly did not see the source of the voice. She saw that Jody and Rachael were talking about something they weren’t talking to her. So who was? She wondered.
“I am standing next to the wall. The others do not want to speak to you at the moment as you are new.” The voice explained.
Carly looked at the mirror in front of her once again to see if she could see this Victoria who was speaking to her. All she saw was the group of mannequins that she had been standing next to all morning.
"Yes, that is me the old white one at the end of the row. I wish I looked as modern as you and our other sisters look. But I wasn’t made that way” The voice told her.
If Carly’s mouth could have dropped open it would have but a combination of Ashleigh’s makeup work and the fact that she hadn’t moved any part of her body in hours stopped it from doing so.
