Rachael was a little shocked when Jody returned from her lunch early, it was not the sort of thing she usually did, not that she was ever late she usually made it back with about ten seconds to spare not ten minutes. Maybe she was turning over a new leaf, she wasn’t a bad kid. Kid she thought to herself she was only a few years younger than her. Boy trying to run this business of hers had aged her. Her mother had said it would but at least she had wished her luck with the shop. Her father was something different altogether. Rachael had only seen him something like five times in her whole life.
He was gone before she was even born, according to her mother he had shown up after she was born well at least for five minutes, The last time Rachael had seen him was about two years ago at his brother's will reading, “He was there to see if he had been left anything no doubt “her mother had said when she had heard of his appearance.
Rachael was a little bit more forgiving of her father mostly because she wanted to get to know him before passing judgment. She remembered how both Michaela and Carly were a little less forgiving. She wondered how Carly was doing; it had been over five hours now since she had been connected to the mannequin stand.
Rachael was pleased that her old friends' idea was working so well. She had no idea that so many people would come through the doors of her little shop trying to find her that morning. When she had checked that morning, she could not believe that her takings were up almost 50% on the week before. She had promised Carly that she would buy her a drink if her idea worked. This was something that Carly had just laughed off at the time. She said that she was only there to help a friend.
That was something that she was glad of these last two weeks had allowed them to start to repair their friendship. It wasn’t quite back to where it was before Carly had left but it was getting there she thought. Carly was turning out to be a really good actress, no one had even given her a second look when they were trying to spot the fake mannequin. Ashleigh’s makeup work did help but Carly’s acting was top-notch. Rachael thought as she entered the coffee shop to get her lunch in. She had to admit that she had slowly become addicted to the coffee they served here and that she would miss it if her shop shut down.
She tried to put that thought out of her head as she walked back towards the shop. She had decided to walk to the coffee shop rather than drive for a change besides it wasn’t that far after all and she could always do with the exercise.
