In the Gibson house, the rest of the evening was fairly uneventful. After a light dinner, Jon tried to get some company to watch a movie. Simon and Zoe weren't interested, Karyn seemed tired out from a day of activity, and Mikey had already asked to be left alone. That left him with Laura.
"Sure..." she said. "You pick, but try to find something you think I would actually like. I'm going to get something to drink."
Jon scrolled through the options before settling on a thriller he thought they would both enjoy. Intrigue, a little action... Laura returned with a bottle of wine and two glasses, and they settled in to watch.
Initially, only Laura was drinking the wine, but Jon eventually, while engrossed the movie, poured himself a glass and sipped it. He didn't notice the distance between him and Laura was slowly closing. By the time the movie ended, Laura had her arm around Jon, and he was resting his head gently against her side.
Jon was feeling a bit of a buzz as they cleaned up the glasses and headed up to bed.
