Kyla Leeson gave a single pace from one end of her living room to the other and back, before turning off the green light that extended out from her replica of the lightsaber that Luke Skywalker used in Return of the Jedi. She tossed it with a soft thud onto the empty sofa beside her, then she picked the Kylo Ren lightsaber replica from off of her wall and turned on its glaring red light, allowing it to illuminate the two girls before her.
"The head cheerleader is who now?" Kyla demanded, menacing the plastic device before Tiffany's eyes.
"Mistress Kyla, Jocelynne is..." Tiffany faltered, unsure of herself. "She is really good at cheerleading. Every aspect of it. I couldn't help but follow her. I can't explain it."
"Aren't you supposed to be Jocelynne's best friend?" Kyla turned her attention to Karyn, the red glow moving on her like a spotlight. "Why didn't you control her?"
"Mistress Kyla, I," Karyn was equally unsure of how to say this, "I was Jon's best friend, but I don't seem to have much in common with Jocelynne. I've been trying to talk to her all day, and it's like we don't share any interests at all anymore. She barely paid any attention to me. I don't think I have any influence at all over her."
The glowing red blade swung from one girl to the other and back. "Well," Kyla menaced, "it seems that I have one person who has a lot in common with Jocelynne but no history, and another person who has nothing in common with Jocelynne and plenty of history."
The red light turned off, and for a moment the room was in darkness. With a flick, Kyla's fingers switched on the living room lights, her back to the other girls, before she slowly paced to her armchair, her Captain's Chair, and sat down upon it like King Lear. Or perhaps like Emperor Palpatine.
"You are to train one another," Kyla intoned. "Tiffany, you are to teach Karyn everything there is to know about cheerleading. And Karyn, you are to teach Tiffany everything there is to know about Jon."
The two looked to one another and nodded.
"And when you come back here tomorrow after school, I expect to see progress."
