When the two new friends looked around after stepping through to the platform they could see many oddly dressed people bustling about. Hermione turned towards Harry and hesitantly said "Let's see if we can find a empty compartment so we can get our trunks stored away and get to know each other better, OK?"
She could see Harry's face light up with happiness that someone wanted to get to know him and really wanted to become his friend. She felt a little bad that she was using him, but it was partially true in that she really did want to get to know the real Harry Potter and become his friend. She didn't want to take the chance that everything would work out in the end with the changes that she had already made and it would really be to Harry's benefit too. She remembered back to when she had read the Harry Potter stories as Jon and thought that it was a wonder he had survived what with how lazy he had been about studying. It had to have been meeting Ron that turned him from being so interested in learning about magic to just getting by. She knew that she had to learn as much about magic as she could to get back to her world and the only way she would be able to survive would be to help her new friend Harry.
Not giving the boy a chance to answer, she grabbed his hand in her's and started towards the train as he was pulled along behind her with her parents following along behind them pulling their carts. When they reached the train, Dan began to unload the cart for the children and help them get their belongings stored in an empty compartment. As they were finishing Hermione saw another boy looking around the train as if he had lost something important and remembered that Neville had lost his toad. Turning towards Harry she said, "Harry, I think that boy needs some help too. Do you mind?"
Harry turned towards the boy Hermione indicated feeling a brief stab of jealously that was quickly beaten down when he noticed the lost look in the boys eyes, a look he himself had had not that long ago. With this in mind he walked up to the boy and asked, "Can we help you? You look a little lost and as we're all new here I'd like to help if you need it."
