Thinking quickly, "I really need to use the loo. And I think that I remember the woman that cane to talk to us, Professor McGonagall, say that it would be a long train ride. So, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to pick up something to eat before boarding the train."
Her mother after hearing this, starts to look around and seeing a sign, turns to her husband. "Dear, could you look around and see if you can find some things for Hermione while I take her to the loo. When we finish, we will wait for you back here."
When Jon/Hermione got to the loo he/she felt a second of hesitation before stepping in followed by Hermione's mother. Quickly she stepped into one of the open stalls and shut the door behind her before realizing that she really did need to use the loo. This caused her to blush, knowing that this was her body now and that she would be needing to take care of it until she could figure out how to get back to Jon's world and get the stone away from Sarah. With that quick flash, Hermione would be who Jon would become as Jon know that Sarah had made a mistake in not picking who she became, with Hermione's brains behind Jon's foreknowledge of what was to come there was no doubt that she would succeed and fit what happened. And she knew that finding Harry Potter and befriending him before Ron would be critical to her plans.
Finding Harry in time should not be a problem, as she had more than enough time to look for him as the Granger's never waited til the last minute, they had arrived over an hour early. And her memories of reading the books left her knowing that Harry had arrived and waited well before the Weasley's strange last minute meeting just before the train was to pull out. Finishing up everything that she had needed without really thinking about it as if she had done it all a thousand times before she stepped out and cleaned up with her mother before leaving with a clear plan for the future.
Meeting back up with her father, Hermione and her mother began walking toward platform 9 3/4 with her telling the two how much she was going to miss them both until the break. She had to be as much their daughter as she could as much for them as for herself, she would need their help and they should not suffer the loss anymore than they would be normally from sending her to boarding school.
By the time they had made it to the correct area she had not seen Harry yet, but knew he would be coming along soon. Deciding that the best strategy to stall for time would be appear both excited about going to a new school and frightened about leaving her parents for the first time. So, she stopped and grabbed them both in a huge hug, and started surprisingly to cry a little as she seemed to be channeling the real Hermione feelings along with her own. After about ten minutes of hugging and telling the two adults how much she was going to miss them both and promising to write as often as she could she caught sight of the boy she was looking for arriving with a whale of a man.
"Mum, I think that boy that man is walking away from is a student too." Hermione got out pass her hiccups.
"How can you be sure honey, you know we're not to draw attention to ourselves." Her mother said.
"I'm sure mother, he has a owl in that cage and the trunk looks just like the ones they were selling on the Alley. But, he don't look like he knows where he needs to enter the platform and look that man he arrived with is just walking off leaving him by himself. I think we need to take the chance and see if he needs help." Hermione got out with a little pleading in her voice.
"Well, I wouldn't pry, but the boy does look worried and I can't believe that anyone would just walk off and leave a boy that age alone like that. Dan, I think Hermione's right, lets at least check to make sure the boy will be OK, even if we are wrong I would never forgive myself for turning my back on him." Mrs. Granger stated.
"I agree Honey, we will all walk over there and check to see that he don't need any help before crossing over." Mr. Granger said before leading them over.
A few seconds later the three arrived near the clearly worried and badly dressed young man, the clothes the boy was wearing dwarfed the boy and were only held up by a rope tied tight about his waist. Hermione felt that she would be the best to approach the boy, stepped forward and said. "Are you here to catch the train to school too? I noticed your owl and thought we might be going to the same school. Can we help you locate the right platform?"
The boy, quickly turned around and you could see the relief on his face as he replied back. "Ah yes, I'm afraid that I don't know exactly were the right platform is. The man that talked to me forgot to mention that it might be a little difficult to find."
"I bet," Hermione said, "Let me guess, the platform says it is between two numbers right?" Giving the boy the chance to catch on that they were talking about the same oddly number platform.
"Yes, that's it exactly. I don't know what I would have done without your help, do you think you could led me to the right place?"
"Sure, I'd be glad to, I'm Hermione Granger. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce you to my parents, this is my mother and this is father." Hermione said looking back, sheepishly toward the two adults.
As Harry looked behind her, the two stepped forward, with the man holding his hand out with a friendly smile. "I'm Daniel Granger and this is my wife Gene, and you have already meet my daughter Hermione. Now, why don't you tell us your name while I grab your trolley and just follow us."
"I'm Harry, uh Harry Potter. I'm very grateful for your help, I was really beginning to worry that it was all a dream, a really bad one."
"That's alright we're glad to help and our girl would never let us forget it if we did not check to make sure you were OK. Now, lets get on with it, we don't want to miss the train now would we, young man?"
"No sir!" Harry happily said following the man as he lead them back toward the right part of the platform.
"Harry," Hermione said capturing the boy's attention, "Just follow behind me as we go through that wall over there. Don't worry that you'll run into it and bounce off, it's not really there so you will go right through it. And since you are new to school too, why don't we share a car together and get to know each other on the way to school, I bet you could use a friend and I know I could as this is the first time I've ever been away by myself and I'm a little nervous about it."
You could see the boy's eyes light up with excitement over what had happened in just the last few minutes. First, someone had offered to help him find the right platform and then they offered to be friends with him. He was beside myself with happiness, this had to be the best day of his life, here he was going to a magical school away from his family and made his first ever friend in the same day. "I would love to share a car with you Hermione," Harry said before following the girl through the hidden portal after she was hugged by both her parents and surprisingly hugged by Mrs. Granger herself.
