Wrapping up his conversation with Karyn, Jon had taken a few notes about the fallout of his wish. This was all normal to Karyn, and she had been oddly quick with an effective rundown of the changes, seemingly no longer bothered that every 'fact' she knew offhand was a magic-induced mirage.
He looked at his notepad, and he'd gotten
-Residents are persons incapable of guile or manipulation
-Their appearance happened a couple generations ago when an archaeological expedition to Peru -- very similar to his grandfather's -- disturbed some kind of artifact.
-they innately understand said artifacts
-They're by and large treated as people and part of the work force
-the McMillans live with the most trustworthy Resident (???????)
Something didn't seem right, and Jon really didn't want to put much faith into this new picture of reality. If wish momen- -- er, if the stone using the wishes to expand its scope or influence -- was real, then the new history of the changes would be 'lower resolution' and gain details the more he used the stone and his abilities. Maybe. He pushed the glasses up his nose to cover his entire field of vision.
This was a nightmare. His heart was pounding as he went to test the glasses in the bathroom mirror.
