Still, it was Hunter that looked all of us. "Why don't we put some new people undercover to gather information. I bet that there are rumblings on the street about them. I used to go to the cafes to talk to them and make trades. Maybe we could find some new things." he proposed. It could certainly work. Hunter would know all of this as a former reprogrammer. That was why I liked having him here with us at these meetings. Most times, he was in way over his head. It was to be expected of a eccentric rich kid. A big pervert too. Sometimes though, he had a good insight for us. That idea was played around with as we weighed the pros and cons. Eventually, we adopted it as our next action. Major Watts and the captains would select a few soldiers to take this mission on. We could wait to see what came of it. As our meeting was winding down, a PEP unit came over to us. I looked at him and frowned. "Excuse me, this is a very private meeting. Go away." I said. The librarians assured us that we would not be disturbed. The others looked at the male cyborg. He looked directly at Hunter.
Major Watts asked him "Do you have any business here?" The PEP unit was not paying us any mind. "Do you remember me, Hunter Diploti?" was what he asked. That seemed like it could be dangerous. Hunter looked pale. It was as if he had seen a ghost. "Ja-jake? Is... is that really you?" he asked, barely above a whisper. The cyborg certainly heard him. "Yes. I'm back." he said in response. Before anyone could ask what was going on, Hunter got up from the table and ran over to him. He buried his face in the cyborgs chest and began crying. "Thank god you're safe, Jake! I never thought that you'd be gone forever. I knew you weren't bad." he whined. Jake pat him on the back. The commandos looked at us for an explanation. We did not have any for them. When Hunter was done with his cry, he said "Manny is going to want to know! He never thought you were bad either." he started to pat his pockets for his cell phone. It was on the table. He had forgot it due to the swell of his emotions. I knew that Manny was his cousin. "Before you call him, can you tell us what happened?"
Hunter turned to us and saw his phone. "Oh! Sorry. Back when I was a kid, I used to spend a ton of time at my cousin's house. You know about Manny, right!?" he said. I nodded. "What does Emmanuel have to do with Jake?" I asked to get him to continue the story. He smiled. "Back in the day, having PEP units were all the rage. All the rich people had them. My grandpa was a corpo and a middle manager so his kids were rich. My dad was from a mistress, so we got a house, but that was it. My dad was pretty close to Manny's mother. She bought a PEP unit to look after him and his brother and sister. We were with Jake for 6 years before people learned what they were up to. One night, Jake just ran away. Our parents told us not to go looking for them and that they were scary. Manny and I never believed that crap. Jake was really good to us." There was not much we could do with that. "How about you go call him while we ask Jake some questions? He's going to want to see Jake too." I offered. Paul handed him his phone. Hunter thanked him before walking off further in the library.
