Curiosity getting the better of him, Jon pulled out his phone and started searching the Internet to see how things had changed. He came across the Wikipedia entry on breast development:
Puberty
Changes in females
Breast development
The first physical sign of puberty in females is usually a firm, tender lump under the center of the areola of one or both breasts, occurring on average at about 10.5 years of age. This is referred to as thelarche. By the widely used Tanner staging of puberty, this is stage 2 of breast development (stage 1 is a flat, prepubertal breast). Within 6-12 months, the swelling has clearly begun in both sides, softened, and can be felt and seen extending beyond the edges of the areolae. This is stage 3 of breast development. By another 12 months (stage 4), the breasts continue to grow in size and shape, with areolae and nipples forming a secondary mound. The rate of growth varies for each individual. Breast growth stops and the secondary mound disappears into the contour of the mature breast after first intercourse or menopause, whichever comes first (stage 5).
Jon found the resulting changes fascinating. Now satisfied with his Wikipedia search, he wanted to explore how cultural norms had changed. He typed 'breast size' into Google and scanned through some of the results. He found forums where women were candidly describing their experiences as they grew up:
"I started puberty when I was 12; I guess that makes me a bit of a late bloomer, but my boobs have just kept growing! I'm only 16, but they're now a D-cup and it's not stopping yet!"
He continued to read through the forum posts. It seemed that whereas large breasts were seen as overtly sexual before, they now indicated purity and innocence - it wasn't unusual for girls to flaunt their chests with an oddly puritanical pride.
On the flip side, however, small-breasted women of any age were often rumored to be promiscuous because of their lack of growth. Jon found photos of small-breasted girls that were being openly mocked and ridiculed for having "loose boobs." He couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable with the change in social attitudes towards women, although he had to admit it did mean there was a lot more cleavage on show than ever before.
He found an interesting article on how rape cases were handled differently in this new world:
The victim's breasts were fast-growing in the time leading up to the attack, indicating that she had been a virgin at the time of the crime. After the growth stopped abruptly, it was clear that the attacker raped her. The defendant has pleaded not guilty and claims he was only trying to save her from having back pains later in life.
Jon realized that, in this reality, sexual predators would largely avoid targeting virgins since they'd have such a clear tell.
Then he saw evidence of social pressures being placed on girls as they reached adulthood:
"My mom keeps asking me when I'm going to get married and start having kids, but I don't want to yet! She says that my boobs will be too big for anything if I wait much longer!" The poster was a 19 year old girl with E-cups.
Jon was fascinated at the thought of girls being pressured into sex simply because they didn't want their breasts to continue growing.
Then he began to realize just how complex a world he had created. Just like in the old reality, breast growth varied wildly among different women - some grew very slowly, others rapidly. Often, the slow growers would be mistaken for having "loose boobs." He found one forum where girls were comparing notes on their growth rates:
"I'm 23 now and still only an A-cup. It's really frustrating, because everyone just assumes I sleep around."
"You have it easy! I'm only 14 and I already have F-cups! My parents are seriously considering finding a guy to take my virginity so that they stop growing!"
Jon felt a pang of guilt at what he had done to these girls, but there was also something deeply arousing about it - the thought that women would do anything they could to stop their breasts from growing further. He wondered if any men were abusing this new power dynamic in order to get women into bed with them.
He saw posts about girls whose breasts had stopped growing. It was actually seen quite similarly with getting married in this new world - an open announcement of having lost her virginity. In some cases, people would speculate over who she'd lost it to; in others, a girl might be ridiculed for not being able to wait before marriage.
It seemed that the majority of women had breasts they were content with. Having nearly full control over when their development stopped meant that most women ended up having exactly the size they wanted. Some women lamented having sex too early or late, regretting the decision later in life.
"Back when I was 15, my boyfriend was super pushy about having sex, and I didn't want to lose him so I went along with it. My boobs were only a B-cup at the time. I wish I hadn't been so naïve! I'm stuck with these tiny things forever now."
"I grew up in a conservative Christian household and saved my virginity for marriage, but my breasts grew so quickly, that by my first time on my wedding night, they were already H-cups. If only I hadn't been such a prude!"
He also found a few cases where girls who had lost their virginity very young had difficulty finding serious partners because of their nonexistent breasts. They might be seen as sluts or "easy."
"I don't even remember the guy that took my virginity, but I do remember how much it changed my life. I must have been the first girl in my grade to do it. Everyone called me 'slutty' because of my tiny boobs!"
Jon couldn't help but feel aroused by all this. After all, he had created these girls' predicaments.
