Just as I approached her, someone came from behind her with a knife drawn. Before I could even warn her, Nicoletta turned and gave him a roundhouse kick to the face that looked really devastating. That did not take the man down though. He just smirked at her and licked the knife. "I can't wait to kill you. You're just the government's bitch." he said with a creepy grin. Nicoletta and I did not take too long incapacitating him. We did not kill him because we did not have that authority. We had to drag him around until a Void Clan member came. Once we made our case, we had to give him over to them. They said they would handle the situation. I was very skeptical. I did not have confidence that they would do much more than simply lecture him and then let him go. Nicoletta outright refused to simply leave it to them. She was attacked and almost killed after all. Other people crowded around all of us. The PEP units looked really concerned. "Hey. How about we solve this the classic way." "Are... are you sure!? The classic way is a bit... dangerous." the female PEP unit said. "That is fine!"
The classic way was fighting to the death in a separate area of the settlement known as "The Pit". It was then revealed to us that the settlement indeed predated the time of the Void Clan. They simply happened to establish themselves on top of the transmission hub. They were cyborgs that did not tire and had the technical know how to do every dangerous or tedious job. In order to even gain their place here, 13-001 had to fight a ton of dangerous and nasty people in The Pit. Because the Void Clan was an Advocate faction clan, they refused to kill them. They had a natural disposition for subversion. By taking on all the chores and using their gentle giant status in the settlement, it allowed them to rise up the ranks to becoming its own independent structure. It was them that took in the unfortunate on the condition that they be the ones in charge for their care. In regards to all the criminals and their malfeasance, they had the respect borne from being able to fuck them up at any moment. Even still, the clan were outnumbered 101 to 1. Nicoletta was very pissed off by that new information.
Quite simply, Void Clan did not control the settlement. They, at best, were working to be able to take over more and more influence in order to control the region. Now we were in a bad situation. There was no way that Nicoletta would recommend that we ally with them. In the immediate time frame, we had a fight to the death. I rubbed my temples and groaned out loud. "Fuck! Nicoletta, I can't believe we've been given the run around this whole time. It has been a massive waste of time. Do you want to put this fool down, or should I?" I said. Nicoletta cracked her knuckles and said "Of course I'm going to put a bullet in him." I let them go. The man with the knife was thrown in alongside her. She absolutely beat the shit out of him before slashing his throat open with his own knife. "Can we go now!?" Nicoletta asked me. I shrugged. "Wait! I thought you wanted to make a deal." The male PEP unit cried out. I just glared at him. "I fucking hate Magnetic Clan. They are anti-human and killed my people. But I will give them that there is no dispute they run their region. You guys clearly do not yet."
