Jon dashed off to answer the door, Karyn on his heels; hopefully his friend would be willing to go along with his little scheme, but if not, there wasn't really anything she could do to stop it at this point. Grabbing the door handle, he pulled it open to reveal the first arrivals. It was his Aunt Emma, his mom's little sister, his uncle Karl and their kids, Ashlyn and Tanner. "Hiya cuz, gotta use the bathroom!" Tanner, a hyper boy about Mikey's age, blurted as he rushed past into the house. His older sister, Ashlyn, who was a college freshman rolled her eyes at his antics. Ashlyn was a slim, slightly tall girl, with modest curves and a cute if not beautiful face. She wore dark boots, jeans, a white tee, a leather jacket, and a grey beanie over her chin length dark brown hair; while she wasn't a full blown goth like Zoe, Jon's little sister definitely idolized her older slightly edgy cool cousin.
"Good to see you, Jon!" Aunt Emma said while pulling Jon into a quick hug. She bore a strong resemblance to Linda, basically looking like a slightly younger, slightly taller version of her older sister with curlier hair. She was in her late 30s, and while not a knockout, still rather youthful looking for her age due to her consistent workout routine; Jon figured since she worked from home as a graphic designer, it must be easier to schedule her exercise into her day. Her husband, a broad shouldered brunette man with a thick handlebar mustache and jolly grey eyes, clapped a hand on Jon's shoulder and said hello, before following his kids into the house. Jon knew his uncle worked in construction but wasn't really sure what he did exactly.
Jon was about to close the door when he saw another car, a Lexus, pulling up the drive. It was his Uncle Gary, his dad's older brother, who waved cheerily as he got out of the car. Accompanying him was his much younger wife Vicky, a buxom blonde woman wearing tight fitting jeans and a low-cut white blouse, big golden hoop earrings dangling from her ears. Vicky had been his uncle's, who worked as an executive at McMillan Industries, secretary until he'd left his first wife and married her a few years back, something that had been a bit of a scandal among the family. For his part, the slightly balding 48 year old looked happy as a clam as Vicky looped her arm with his and they walked up the path to the door. "How're you doing, Jon?"
"Fine, Uncle Gary," Jon replied while trying not to look down Vicky's top, which threatened to have one of her boobs slip out at any moment, "are Kelsey and Jackie not with you?" Kelsey and Jackie Gibson were Gary's daughter's from his first marriage, and Jon's cousins.
Gary waved him off, "they're coming with their mother later, something about her needing help with something or the other. You know how troublesome Rachel can be." It was fair to say that Gary and Rachel's divorce hadn't been an especially amicable one, and Jon chose not to comment on the barb, hoping the two wouldn't be constantly fighting throughout the whole reunion. Then again, Jon thought, that could be fun depending on who they become, picturing the bodies of Zoe and Tanner arguing like bitter exes. "How's your old man been?" Gary asked.
Jon chuckled, trying his best to keep casual and not betray his anticipation for what was coming, "I think he's doing his best to not burn the roast if you want to go help him."
