Most of the healthy population remaining was male. This "illness" seemed to target women more so than men. With the priest guiding us, we were able to introduce the 6 of us to the bathing young men. They had just come from school for the day. After spending time there, we were taken to where the ill members of the town were. There were 20 women and 10 men. It was culturally inappropriate for them all to be naked and soaking together. I could understand it. The incubi were flabbergasted. For them here, this would be the best time to have a massive orgy. The townsfolk simply would not have that. I had to ask the priest to take all of the women to their designated side. The priest was male, but everyone trust him to behave and not do anything weird with them. It was a great way for us to get to know each other. We talked all about the town and its history. The older men had more to say than younger ones. There was even an elder that was a risk. He was the one to give us their lore dump. A great hero wandered through this area. One of the party members found this town on their return.
Being that the incubi were still sick, I was sure that something was up. Even I was not able to relax. There was a constant low buzzing in my ear. I was a Player and high leveled, so I was able to bear it. The priest ran over to us and looked in a panic. "What's going on!?" he cried out, his head on a swivel. Everyone looked at him like he was insane. "I sense terrible evil. Where is it!?" he called out. Pentora, Voxex and Wesez actually threw up at this point. I tilted my head at him. "Wait. Are you actually a cleric?" He nodded his head. "Yes. My name is Anthony Cedric, cleric of Umanti, God of Rivers." he said. That made sense. He probably put a big ward over the town to make sure that evil could not come in. We were fiends and therefore automatically evil. It was fucking all of them up and we would need to leave. Anthony looked at them and seemed to understand what was going on. "I see." he said. He then walked up to them slowly. I got in between them. "I think that you'll find that since we only came into town today, there is no possible way that their illness is involved with this." I said to him.
Anthony sighed and said "Have you found anything?" he asked. I shook my head. "No. We have just been relaxing here in a group. No one has seen anyone that should not be here." He then walked away. We went back to the men of the town. Things would be hard going forward. The night passed and things were fine. Even the women were doing well. We decided to continue this for a week. Not only were those at risk from attacks not dying, they were doing much better. On the 8th day, we got more people afflicted. The vampires were not going to wait for them. They had moved on to new targets. That was fine with us. I told Anthony to bring everyone in the town to the bathhouses. "Clearly, this is a hostile attack from something. We have proven that staying together in a quarantine helps those isolated to recover. We will starve out the guilty and force them to make a move." I told him at the town elder's meeting. He agreed reluctantly. The elders did not see a big problem with it. I had already gotten results. After 3 more days of this relaxation at night, we got a new visitor to their bathhouse.
