Rosemary looked at Sarah...there was something that told her Sarah was an authority figure. Maybe it was the lines that were being etched into Sarah's face, or the look in her eyes. But those thoughts kept coming into her head. That she couldn't possibly understand what Rosemary was feeling... "Whatever I'm becoming," she told Sarah, "I'm better off..." she said. "And I don't need to stand here and watch you...I'm going to...I'm going to...wherever I'm supposed to be now."
She picked up a brown leather bag that was sitting nearby...which was large enough to hold schoolbooks, unlike the bag Sarah had been carrying, which was barely big enough for her makeup and other supplies. There was definitely a difference, Sarah noted, between what she had looked like when she came in and Rosemary. Rosemary had this vintage fashion style. And as she grew more youthful, she seemed more vain than she had before.
Sarah couldn't even bring herself to discover what she must look like...if the former librarian had turned into a teenager...she doubted she hadn't advanced to high school senior, but more like senior citizen.
"Wait...we don't know what things are like out there," Sarah warned her.
"Only one way to find out. See you later, ma'am" she replied, emphasizing the ma'am.
Rosemary headed out into the halls of the school, confident about handling whatever was out there, while Sarah was fretting about what trouble Rosemary might get herself into, to the point she didn't focus on her own problems.
