Marantyz sighed and said "I would give you some good pointers and extra arcane power, but we are just so very busy right now." he said. Xavier looked at him and also gave a long sigh. "Would you like me to help you with your task?" he offered to his supposed master. The incubus nodded with a bright smile. "I thought that you would never ask, Xav!" he said. It was clear this was a ploy. However, as his master, Marantyz had every right to ask for tasks. That meant that Xavier was stuck helping the incubus by transcribing spells into the grimoire for him for the day. His experiences being in his mother's presence allowed him to know how to transcribe. Both Marantyz and I took some notes. In Xavier's study of occult lore, he had unearthed some eldritch invocations. Those were fragments of forbidden knowledge that imbued warlocks with an abiding magical ability. He was almost at the 2nd level of the class. He would gain two eldritch invocations of Xavier's choice. Marantyz was able to teach him burning hands and command. That was great in my mind. Those were not a warlock's spells.

Command was not even a wizard spell. It was just something that the incubus could do now as a patron. That satisfied Xavier and he left. It was fine for me. It was up to him to study and try to reach the next level of his class. It probably would not hurt for Xavier to also start training with a martial weapon. We seemed to be at a bottle neck. I was very close to 8th level magic. The others could not get past 5th level magic. Anytime they tried to transcribe anything 6th level or above, it failed to take to the page. That was alright for not. They just needed to get stronger. Mastering 5th level spells in the wizard class was pretty good. It would put them on the level of the adept mages. I could accept if it was the limit of their abilities. Looking at the clock, it was time for us to open up for the day. We had a pretty great night. The patrons were all entertained. Things were doing pretty well for us. A few days later, all of the dancers came to me. My original squad was right there with them. I rolled my eyes when they asked me to take them somewhere. I sighed out loud. They all looked at me with puppy eyes.
