"I like you just the way you are, Martha," Karyn said, grabbing a hold of her friend's hand and holding it. Frankly, the gesture kind of weirded Martha out. And the way Karyn was looking at her ... did ... did she have feelings for her? Karyn didn't seem all that different. She was still a tomboy, just like she was back when it was her and Jon, instead of her and Martha. Could it be that even back then, Karyn was secretly into girls?
Martha pulled her hand away and moved towards the door. "I ... I need a moment alone. To think," she said, then headed to the bathroom down the hall.
Karyn sighed. Yes, it was true what Martha suspected. Unknown to her (both in the reality where she was Jon and this one, as Martha - the Martha that everyone remembered existing), Karyn was actually a lesbian. It was obvious to her that Martha, or this version of Martha who had the mind of a boy (as weird and unpleasant as that sounded), felt weirded out by her advances, as subtle as they were. But maybe with the stone ...
She looked down on the bed, and realized that in her haste to leave the room, Martha had left it there! Karyn could use the stone on Martha and make her love Karyn just as much as Karyn loved her, and with her not being around to hear the wish, Martha wouldn't think anything was out of the ordinary. But could she really do that to her best friend?
