He was gone before Zoe could change her mind. She looked at the device. It was still set on her decision to open the door. There were options. It noted that the most probable was now didn't answer door, where it had previously been the second...and the remaining options were less probable. This was going to take some getting used to. Where would she start?
Several hours later, Zoe met up with Zelda, her most technically minded friend. She thought about telling Athena about this, but Athena had other preference.
"I'm not lying," she explained to Zelda.
"So, a weird guy shows up and gives you something that can change the laws of the universe?"
"I don't fucking know why...I think he just wanted to get rid of it. But, I tried it this morning. I got my little brother to pick a different shirt to wear. I can prove it works..." Zoe insisted.
"So..how does that help anything? It's pretty useless. Unless..." Zelda thought about it. "Did you try anything big?"
"Big like what?"
"Well, you said this thing can make someone make a different decision on the past...but if you pick a decision an hour ago...that doesn't change much. But if you made a different decision further back...it would change other decisions."
Zoe thought about it. "We need some kind of test. But on who?"
