"yeah, I'm in her gym class-so what?" replied Ethel, "that just means her and her friends get to make fun of me while I'm walking laps and when I use the shower." Jon continued "Ok, but Sarah can't be carrying the stone with her in gym class, right? So if you just notice what locker she uses, then..." Ethel stopped him "No way, Jon. I'm not fooling with her again and neither should you-she could really mess us up next time. I hate what she did to me, but I can deal with the weight and my underarm odor-and I'll lose weight after high school. And there are lots of short guys around-you'll be ok. but she could turn us into total freaks if she wanted to. No way. Ask Vera or Suzy-Sarah messed them up too." Jon looked sad and resigned. "I already called them, and they both turned me down, they're too scared."
"I don't blame them Jon" "I understand Ethel-but please, would you just let me know if she uses the same locker every day, if you can notice? Please?" Ethel looked up at him "All right, Jon-I'll do that much, if you're really determined to try something. But please-think about it again. It's not worth the risk."
