I decided to call Karyn.
"Hi Karyn, don't hang up."
"Who is this, wait, Sarah McMillan?"
"Yeah, Karyn, don't hang up, it's important."
"All right, I'm listening," Karyn said belligerantly.
"I need you to tell me, how you remember things. Do you remember both Sarah McMillan and Jon Merlin existing? There was a wish, and things didn't go as planned."
"...if you're calling me, it must have really not gone as planned. You better not have erased Jon from existing you whore."
"Karyn, calm down, no one's erased from existing, we're just not sure how it impacted the rest of the world, but I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm Jon," I said. It was the truth, just not the whole truth.
"Oh shit. What happened?!"
"First I need to know, do you remember both Jon and Sarah existing, as different people who aren't in the same family," I asked. Darnit Karyn, I need information before I explain things to you, certainly if you're going to freak out about things. Please answer my questions first.
"Yeah," she answered.
"Ok, do you hate Sarah McMillan, and think she's the queen of the bitches?"
"Yeah. It feels weird saying this to you. I mean, you're Jon, but..."
"And is Jon Merlin your best friend?"
"Yes. Hey, wish me over there. I want to know what's going on." I reeled at the prospect of granting Karyn's request to do exactly what I was just worried about doing!
"I really don't want to do that," I answered.
"Why not?"
So I mirrored my earlier thoughts. The benefits of having already thought it through. "You're thinking it would just be convenient transportation, like a star trek transporter, but what if it traps you in my room for eternity because the wish that you were over here was absolute? Or what if it rewrites history so you were in my room for the whole evening until now and all three of us would... er, never mind."
"What the hell is happening," Karyn said, a little more angrily again.
"Please don't be mad! If you hate me because of this I don't know what I'll do, please!"
Karyn sighed over the phone. "All right... I shouldn't treat you differently because of how you sound, if you're really... Jon-boy..."
I giggled a little at that.
"Do you look like her, or do you just sound like her?"
"I guess I should tell you, so you don't get surprised, but I look completely like her."
"If you're in her body, is she in yours?" Karyn asked.
"Yes," I said, without further explanation, knowing it was horribly misleading even though it was the absolute truth.
"How the fuck did that happen. Why the fuck was she over there in your room Jon!"
"She surprised me! She showed up at my house wanting help studying! I had no idea she had seen us use the stone this afternoon and was planning on stealing it."
"Oh, shit. Well, it sounds like she didn't exactly succeed, at least. Oh no, tell me she didn't steal your body and take the stone and leave."
"Oh, no. That's, definitely, not what happened," I said with 100% honesty. Yet it was of course incredibly misleading.
"Whatever. I'll be there in a few minutes. See you."
I waited at my front door.
"Jon?" Karyn said hesitantly.
"In the flesh," I said with a silly laugh. "Cuter than the last time you saw me, wouldn't you say?"
"Wow, you don't laugh like Sarah at least. It's actually a charming laugh, not an irritating one at all."
"Gee, thanks a lot," I said, a little annoyed, especially since having experienced being Jon, I completely got it. It hurt the most that I completely got it. It was hard kind of hating myself more than ever.
"What?" she said, sensing I was a little incensed.
"Just come up with me to my room," I said, urging her up the stairs.
"Oh, Karyn too," mom said. "I'm so proud of my son, he has such attractive lady friends. Are you both going to stay for dinner? Should I put yet another plate at the dinner table?"
"No," I said, "you definitely don't need, a setting for all three of us, just two," I said.
"I'll bet Sarah's pissed, being stuck as you," Karyn whispered to me at the top of the stairs with an evil smile.
"About that," I said, as I closed the door. "There's something I need to say to you first Karyn. I love you. I want you to be my girlfriend."
Karyn's eyes went wide as I kissed her out of the blue and hugged her. She relaxed a little, and then hugged me back, and a moment later, kissed me back.
"Yes or no?" I asked.
"...y...YES! Damn it Jon, why are you springing this on me now, you should have asked me years ago! Especially when you're looking like that, it's just so weird. But yes!" She was all smiles. She could hardly believe it herself, how much she was enjoying making out with Sarah McMillan, until a realization hit her. "Ugh, oh no, there's only one reason why you would spring it on me now. It's because of the boobs isn't it. Damn it, are you only attracted to me now because I have these now?!"
"NO! I swear that's not it. I absolutely promise you that has zero to do with it. It's entirely because of the new perspective what with being in this body."
"Well ok. That I can accept, even if it's kind of weird. But about that, we need to fix your body first, Jeez! I'm certainly not going to be your girlfriend if you're in Sarah the bitch's body," she said, laughing, and then stopping, seeing how blank my own face went as she said that. "But wait a minute, where is Sarah in your body. At first I thought she must be in your room watching us, but I don't think she's here, unless she's hiding under the bed. Is she in the bathroom?"
"About that," I said. "You see Karyn, the truth is..." how the hell was I going to tell her this? It was a major bombshell! I sure hoped she would be able to accept the truth, to accept me like this.
