Bethany Black hadn't been the luckiest woman in life, but she was proud of what she had. Getting pregnant her senior year of high school with Karyn had set her back somewhat, meaning she had needed to skip college, something she'd always regretted. Instead she'd gotten a job at Esensia, a make-up boutique at Lakeview Mall as a saleswoman, eventually working her way up to the position of day manager that she held now. She'd probably never be able to open up a store of her own like she'd thought about when she was a teenager, but at least she had attained a position with some authority and responsibility. It wasn't the highest paying job, but they got by, and she always tried to focus on the good things in her life.
Not to brag but Bethany knew she was attractive, with long red hair, generous double d cup breasts, a round ass, nice features and pretty green eyes. Sure, she was a bit rounder around the midsection than she'd been when she was younger and carrying a little more junk in her trunk than she'd like, but she wasn't fat, just 15-20 pounds heavier than she'd like to be. Who has the time or money to hit the gym every day? She had a very close relationship with Karyn, only strained by the hours the single working mother had to work sometimes, something Karyn had come to understand as she got older. She got on at least okay with most of her coworkers, except for new hire Jade, a massive slacker in her opinion, and had a small circle of friends she cherished. It was one of those friends, Linda Gibson, who was about to become cosmically important in Bethany's life; the two women had become friends largely as a result of Juniper/Jon and Karyn becoming besties, but found they genuinely got along with one another, especially in this new reality where Bethany's interest in cosmetics overlapped so much with Linda's life as a model.
It had been a fairly normal shift for Beth and she was looking forward to closing up as the mall wound down for the day. She was wearing the beige polo and namebadge with the Esensia logo, a palm tree over an oasis, like all employees and dark slacks; personally she always thought employees at a beauty store should dress a little nicer than your average big-box store cashier, but that decision was above her pay grade. There were two employees working with her till close, Cynthia who'd stepped away to the bathroom, and Jade who was supposed to be organizing stock in the back. (Beth was pretty sure she'd have to double check to make sure it was done properly.) In any event, that left Beth manning the counter, waiting for any customer to come in, not knowing the next person to step into the store proper would change her life entirely.
Just as Biff had been selected by knowing Jon, Bethany was chosen for knowing Linda and about to have her life flipped once the next person came in the door.
