We saw that there were indeed rackets that we up for grabs. There were also a couple of minor factions in the town. There were the Glimmering Lions and the Red Rays in each district. Glimmering Lions seemed to have all the speakeasies and casinos in town owned for the those in the know to enjoy. The Red Rays had drug labs and dens tucked away in places that only those with a knowing eye could see. I had lots of money from all my missions saved up. It was also cheaper in this town. I had the money to buy over 10 rackets. Square district was the seat of the municipality. Town Hall was there as well as the courthouse, banks, library and park. Payday was the small entertainment district of the town. There was a theatre, a movie theater, fancy restaurants and luxury stores. The Yard was where the prison was. The Hills was the area that led to the huge mining complex. That was how Askill got its legal revenue and reputation. Since we wanted to take over a single district to make it possible to be advanced, we had to choose one to start. I thought The Hills were good. It had the miners.

Everyone agreed that it was as good a place as any to start. I found a empty racket building up for grabs. I bought it and made it a head quarters immediately. The next thing to do was fulfill my promises to the whores. We got 3 brothels in the district. One for each of them to manage. Nicolò did not want one. He said he wanted a hotel. It was not possible to buy another empty racket building here. That was fine. I asked where he wanted it. He said that the Payday district would be fine with him. I bought another headquarters and a hotel. I was owning all of them. I needed them in the party. They were supposed to be my subordinated. For them to advance, they actually needed to have jobs and complete them. Running the rackets would only make all of them low ranking thugs in the eyes of the mafia. That was where Nicolò got trapped in Gravitt City. Since we were all new, we needed some good influencers. The whores could do that. Nicolò, Araldo and Bernardo could all be enforcers. I would run with both groups to ensure success. Because I was a made man, I had a vote but no actual power.

Speaking with Nicola remedied that situation. He was a lieutenant and therefore had the authority to mobilize assets and assign missions. Anyone could put out a formal request for a random Blue Codex member or hopeful to take care of. But for my group to advance, they needed to actually do missions specific to the family. The largely respected Bamontes sponsored me, so we already had a close relationship. Nicola was a bit miffed that I left the city without telling him about it. When I offered to give the 10% cut of the revenue of the rackets to him, he changed his tune. He told me he would be in touch with some targets that he wanted. I specified that we had a nice squad of operatives on hand looking for influencer, enforcer and assassin jobs. There was a pause on the phone. "I will see what I can do about that." he said. I was not going to hold my breath for that. We had a group of very shitty rackets to deal with. 3 brothels and a hotel needed to be managed and upgraded. We were also going to have to be on the lookout for the Glimmering Lions and the Red Rays. Those were challenges.
