We told the driver to book it. She put the pedal to the metal. We really did not have any time to waste here. Traffic laws did not matter to us. No cops could stop us. And if they tried to get in our way, we would obliterate them. All of us were heading straight for the Sonic Clan transmission hall. It was situated under a tan building with a small radio tower. Apparently, that was were the underground human supporters of the PEP units made their pro cyborg propaganda broadcasts. Our driver had to do a lot of good driving. She was dodging blockades, rolling on and off the road to avoid spike strips and driving through a hailstorm of bullets. I was pretty impressed with her skills behind the wheel. If she made it to the end I would not only add her to the roster, but make her an officer. This was a big mission after all. The rewards for it had to be a big deal too. We were tearing through the highway on a very high speed chase. Several SWAT vans and helicopters were on us. Paul opened the back doors and began laying down some suppressant fire on the vehicles chasing us. Brett and I both joined in too.
Blowing up cars, vans, and helicopters caused a huge mess on the roads. It was due to the driver that we were still going. I know I would have messed up by now. We all were making a big scene. Due to the fact that this was a very high profile fight, we could not afford to be seen openly cheating. Sages would notice and crack down. That was something we did not want. Even more than losing to the military or Conquerors. Luckily for us, we had maxed out all the weapons in the PEP lab already. That meant we had some really cool toys to play with and a whole lot of ammo for them. I was using a big shotgun that shot out mini nuclear bullets. It did massive amounts of damage due to my modifiers and the attachments it had. They were 1 shot kills. Paul and Brett had other weapons. They were just as deadly as mine. The PEA unit on the turret was also doing lots of work to clear the roads ahead of us. It seemed like smooth sailing until we were hit with a missile. The blast knocked us off the road and in some trees. She was able to get us back on the road, but they were able to catch up now.
I groaned as this was getting ridiculous. They could not stop us now. The PEA that was using the turret was critically wounded. He popped down and was bleeding out. I had an energy generator. Turning it on released the warm glow and it healed all 3 of the cyborgs. It was a very tough mission, but that was what the PEAs were all made for. Paul, Brett and I were not going to stop until we made it to the transmission hub and extracted the leader of the coalition. The various involved clans had come to far to abandon everything now. I already sent Caleb, Cameron, Charlie, 02 and Shepard into space for this mission. I was not going to lose them there forever. It was simply out of the question. I did not know about how Paul or Brett really felt, but I was totally invested in this. We kept driving down the road. That helicopter had to go. She had to whip the van around so we could get a good shot at it. Brett casted his energy drain magic and knocked it out off the sky. It crashed on the highway on top of a SWAT van. Both blew up in a massive fireball. Hopefully, it would stop some of the other pursuers.
